soz to be a complete idiot but wat is it....something to do with upgrading the turbo or chip or sumthing like that?

uprated turbo. There's loads on it in here if you search.

done a search but alkl it said about them was IHI and not really a description about them

IHI are a manufacturer of turbo chargers basically, Japanese based company.

Jabbasport use this turbo manufacturer in their conversions on the 1.820vt engine.

as far as i know it is a Hitachi turbo
