SPECIAL SCN OFFER 35% OFF SEAT LIST PRICE ON ALL TIMING BELTS, TENSIONERS AND KITS

** All parts are free p+p **

Is there a particular reason why you have this offer?

eg over stock, old stock etc etc
Can you confirm also that these are genuine seat sourced parts, or if not what manufacturer.

Im surprised you dont have a work email address, any reason for this?

seremotors
05-06-2008, 16:00
Dont be so suspicious :)

1) I am parts manager with a big parts business (best parts sales in NI and Scotland) based on good customer service and realistic profit margins ie not greedy
2) I am a genuine enthusiast willing to help other SEAT owners
3) All parts we sell are brand new, fresh stock (belts have an expiry date) and genuine SEAT unless marked otherwise, with full 2yr warranty
4) My work email is david.hawthorne@seremotors.com but obviously I cant access it from home so I use my personal email for 24hr access
5) My ebay username is hawthornedb as it was in place before I started mail order - check my feedback (490 and rising) if you are unsure

Bear in mind that not all parts have the same buying discount for us as a dealer so while I can give this discount on belt kits, I may only be able to give 5% on some other parts

No problem. The ASV kit includes -
Belt, tensioner, auxiliary roller (large plastic one), 2 middle rollers (small metal ones), and any retaining nuts and bolts which SEAT recommend are replaced.
All comes in one box with its own part number.

seremotors
16-01-2009, 08:33
same as old type diesel engines - water pump life expectancy is about 60k average, 40k at worst. no additional labour involved to fit a pump when you have it stripped so far down, and for the sake of £25 its mad not to . . . . our foreman left to work at the MOT centre, he works from home as well. i will pm you his number - brilliant mechanic!!!!!

Hi David, my LCR has only done 34k miles, but it'll be almost 4 years old by the time the next service is due. Can you give me a price for all the parts needed on a BAM engine, including a water pump (plastic or metal?).

Seen wild variations in prices for parts & labour on the forums... I know the labour rates at the Seat Specialist I use, just need a price for parts. Thanks! :)

seremotors
16-01-2009, 15:05
no bother. timing belt kit is £51 inc vat, water pump (latest version, metal impeller) £21. allow £5 delivery and bear in mind the water pump is 'exchange' so i need the old one posted back when the job is done. hope this helps. note all genuine parts carry 24 month parts AND labour warranty regardless of who fitted them . . . . .

That's a lot cheaper than I thought! Having seen stupidly high prices for kits elsewhere, I have to ask a daft question... the handbook says 'toothed belt for camshaft drive', so is this timing belt kit the same as a cam belt kit? :hide:

Ring me on Monday and we can sort it out. My stock is low after being off but orders arrive from SEAT UK every day. You could collect at SERE Boucher Rd (my place) or SERE Lisburn. Also, we deliver to G+H bodyshop and will be there Tuesday so could work well for you . . . . . Post is also no problem.

I supply 'exchange' water pumps which are still covered by 2-yr VAG parts and labour identical to an 'outright' part.
VAG encourage the use of exchange items primarily for environmental reasons. Some parts are reconditioned, some are recycled.

Hi there, i'm after a cambelt kit for a 51 reg Ibiza. 1.4mpi. Thanks. I'm guessing I need a water pump too by the sounds of it (reading through this topic).

Its on 72,000 miles and hasn't been done according to its service history. The garage checked its condition and said it was fine. I'm totally confused though. The service book says 60,000 check condition which the garage has done and 120,000 replace belt? I phoned Seat and asked them and they said ignore the book? They quoted me £180 to do the cambelt. Seems reasonable but that wouldn't be with a water pump would it??

tbh its always best to do a belt around 60k irrespective of manufacturer's recommendations - and that applies to all cars, not just SEAT.
Water pump replacement is never included in the price for doing a belt, plus always check the price includes the tensioner.
For your car a timing belt kit inc tensioner can be as little as £32 (AUD engine), water pump £23. To be fair, these engines arent prone to eating water pumps like the diesels are.

Will get it posted back to you this week, how come the new water pumps are not “metal impeller” styles, just the same as the old ones “plastic” only up-grade is the centre bit it slides on to that spins it?

The metal impeller thing is a bit of an urban myth.
The material used is different and doesnt expand in heat hence doesnt jam and sieze like the old ones.
All genuine parts have 2 year unlimited mileage parts and labour warranty anyway so hopefully no concerns :)

tbh its always best to do a belt around 60k irrespective of manufacturer's recommendations - and that applies to all cars, not just SEAT.
Water pump replacement is never included in the price for doing a belt, plus always check the price includes the tensioner.
For your car a timing belt kit inc tensioner can be as little as £32 (AUD engine), water pump £23. To be fair, these engines arent prone to eating water pumps like the diesels are.

Kit is belt, tensioner and small additional relay roller
Cost £57
Water pump £23 (plus £40 recycling surcharge refunded immediately on return of old unit within 14 days of supply)
Parcelforce £10
Note the metal impeller is a bit of an urban myth. VAG only supply one pump end of story. It is the latest version and latest material which does not suffer the same issues as the originals. Carries 24 month parts and labour warranty.

No worries - thanks for the order.
Just one to watch for other 1.8T Ibiza drivers - this is NOT the same setup as a Leon 1.8T and no kit as such is available for the Ibiza.
I am supplying this as a belt, tensioner and roller under separate part numbers.
Only mentioning it because someone I know bought a 'kit' from a well known supplier and the tensioner was wrong :(

Hi Dave,

Is the 40% discount on timing belts (cambelts) plus on other parts still available? What are your prices for a 2001 Toledo TDI SE 110 timing belt and water pump (metal impellar of course). I'm not getting heat when driving around town at speeds of up to 40 mph (getting heat on the motorway though). Been advised it's the water pump. Don't know when the cam belt was changed as recetly bought the car.

Also, do you know of a good mechanic that can put these in for a reasonable price in the North East Greater Manchester Area?

Cheers

My apologies Dave, I was looking at the posts above re: Leon Cupra R but that's a petrol not a diesel hence it's probably cheaper (please correct me if I'm wrong). My references were to that 2001 Leon.

So are Mk2 Toledo TDI timing belts more dearer than their petrol equivalents?

every engine code requires different components, some tdi's have an additional roller which adds to the cost of the kit.

Can you advise what it required for a 2006 2.0 TFSI Reference Sport? Every garage I speak to says that it's coming up as having a timing chain on their system. If it is a belt, can you give me a cost for the kit?

Thanks.

As SEAT dealers, we only sell genuine parts :)
All genuine parts have a 2yr warranty and are fully dealership invoiced
Kits include belt, tensioner and any rollers and fixings required as per factory recommendations

Timing belt kit is £70
Water pump is £26 but Im unsure if it has a metal impeller. I dont get into that too much as personally I think its irrelevant. all water pumps are made of better material than original, plus all genuine parts have a 2yr warranty.
Delivery is £10 via Parcelforce
Note the pump has a £35 surcharge refunded as long as the old unit is returned within 30 days

Cheers for that, could you just clarify if the waterpump is the metal impeller type or plastic as per original? Is there any surcharge on this pump too as i notice on some you do charge.

Regards

All pumps have a surcharge, the amount varies unit to unit. Seems crazy to have such a high value, but its VWG's way of ensuring the old ones go back for recycling

I dont get hung up on impeller types - I dont open the boxes to look lol
The pumps are made of different and better material than the old ones which doesnt have the same problems
