Dunno if this has been asked before but does all these diesel treatment additives really work and make a difference? Redex is pretty popular what do people recommend or think? Cheers

hello,

redex is pants.

best to use an additve with cetane booster.

i use Miller diesel power plus. about £7 a bottle but you only add small shot to each 20 ltrs.

works wonders.

I tried Redex stuff in my tank a few fill-ups ago. Don't use it - it hammered my mpg for some reason.. on the same journey as before, where I previously obtained 54mpg consistently, I got 48mpg. Now I've flushed it out I'm back to 54mpg.

I've started to use that Millers Diesel Power Plus. Good stuff as well. Getting 55-56mpg & improves power a little bit.
Never tried the Redex stuff so I can't comment on that.

Jon - is that what the trip computer says? 55-56? as thats reading optomistic, if you do brim to brim fuel calcs on the amount of fuel used and the mileage it will probably be a few mpg less that the computer always says.

How do you drive it then to get that? put ur foot down much? what type of roads/journey?

Yeah, that's going off the computer.
I've just done a quick calculation & you're right. The actual consumption is 52.73mpg.
I don't thrash the car to within an inch of it's life but I don't hang around either. I use the car every day, to & from work with a mixture of town driving, country roads & dual carriageways, averaging 300 miles per week.

I get about the same out of mine. Its usually right.

What you get out of yours?

Had any bother with anything?

Had mine 6 months now - had new heated window switch and gas strut for back door, luckily not much.

know of anything good for TDi 110's you'd like to share?

Orange - check the post not so long ago when jontdi got his 110, titled 'new member with 110 sport' i think.

Mines going in to have the turbo looked at this week, as others might have read it doesnt spin up right.

Other than that the car has had no probs in 7000 miles.

you'll probably find that it's the MAF sensor.

My dad bought Audi TDi that wouldn't go at all, and got worst. Amazingly after many hours of playing with pump settings because no one thought that the MAF had so much effect - hey presto

new MAF and problem went away (cost £250 to replace - ouch!!)

Supposed to be common fault on ALL TDi's.

If you read my post to JonTDi on chipping or which one's best i mentioned it there.

Cheers.:

Talking back on sublect, i've tried Comma Diesel Magic i think its called.

Good results, but hammers the mpg down. ??

Any other good stuff out there? Millers best I've found.

Wynns used to do some stuff called cetane booster, but unavailable now, shame.

I managed to get about 6 bottles from a local shop who were selling it off cheap due to it being dis-continued.

I think that UK not too bothered, or don't know about it so not many outlets for such products.
