Have seen some adds that claim you can'plug-in' a box to your TDI and get about 30% more HP / TQ plus better fuel economy.

Has anyone had one of these fitted? What's the cost? What about performance, economy?

I'm looking for something that won't mess up my warranty so not sure about a full re-map.

Can anyone help?

The tuning box type things have pretty dicent numbers (about the same as a remap). From all of the problems I've been hearing about, I would stay away from them, as they don't really compensate for all the variables out there like a remap does. It also tends to produce alot of smoke.

If you do a remap by Revo or the APR serial stuff (I don't think they have the 110 ready yet), you can always switch over to stock before going in to get warranty stuff done.

Fitted one of those tuning boxes during the week there, seems like a good job. My box has a we screw on the side of it to adjust the max power output, i hav found that turning the box up to max makes the car very hard to drive because it seems to surge wildly as soon as the turbo kicks in.

Would recomend if you are getting a box to make sure it has an adjustment for this reason.

I got mine on ebay for £160 but it is brand new, also means that if i want to get rid of it i wont loose much money on it.

Mmmmmm very worried about buying over the internet - especailly since one of my credit cards got copied, & some one took it to its 5k limit!!!! Thankfully I had spotted some unlawful usage & put the bank in the picture, they are investigating now & I'm not liable Phew!!!

So hence I deal with people direct.... or from a firm direct! But I'm looking into a tuning box at the moment!!!!
