im going to get a 130 sport but with only a quick look around the net ive found a few places doing 130 sports for £11995 but with only 2 years warranty! But they do have cruise control and metalic! Im starting to think that the £1500 price hike of a UK car just for the sake of 1 years warranty is not worth it, but these places do offer 3rd party warrenty options for an extra year for between £190-240.

What are people's thoughts on these imports??

Speak to AndyB - He's been there & has written some very interesting info on buying an Import. Me well, I preferr the local dealer option, usually.... However when you say you would be saving £1500 etc, dont forget that you will need to pay something for import duty?! How much pass! But could be a fair chunck of that saving figure!!!!!

As I said earlier sepak to AndyB - He may help you save sheds more....

if the cars you have found on the net come from supermarkets, just make sure they come from the EU and the spec. Ideally you should have the same as a UK car. Its easy to do, normally you have to add to a EU car to make it UK spec, but only one or two items (for me it was upgrade of the air con).

The 2yr/3yr thing is a bit dependent on mileage you intend doing. The 3rd year is limited to 60k where as the first two years are unlimited, so for me, the 3rd year would be useless anyway as I do 30k a year!

One other thing you need to consider. It isnt right, its illegal but a number of SEAT dealers will not service your car if its a import (and that would include these supermarket cars), so it might be worth checking as that can be serious hassle, but ask about you may end up getting a better discount on a UK car in the process!!!

Theres a import guide on the main site (in the guide section). Its now a bit out of date (ignore any references to United Motors- they went bust) but should be useful. You could if time is on your hands look at dealers in Holland and see what they come up with. The exchange rate isnt good at the moment, but savings are still to be had. The form filling is easy peasy and you dont have to pick up the car yourself. Theres also the import forums on here as well, not very active now the savings have been reduced (I saved 4k at the time, but now the saving would be about 2,200 on my car)

Lastly on the main site in the article is a link to Terry Gilroy's company SEAT imports. Drop him an email as I've found he gets very good prices and one of the members on here Goot has been very pleased with his service.

any other quereis, drop me a line (email link below) or post on here

well if Wim has one in stock, that should help you. Was the 11995 from a supermarker or Wim? If its from a supermarket, I'd like to think Wim or maybe Terry would be able to better that (not sure of current prices)

I like to deal direct with the main Dealer, that is why I used Wim, I have always done so in the past with other brands.

order, fly out collect , Nice drive through Holland, ferry home.

Done it all Saturday, Back by 9pm.

...or pay a little extra and have it delivered to your door by Noyons, then no worries about insurance anywhere (esp on the ferry).

Kenny -> Have a nosey in the Import forum, I've done plenty of waffling about buying my 130 from Wim.
