i know mate, they are a joke. you could try making one with fibreglass and mdf - there is a guide in the ice section i think. not an easy task tho!
I thought about this but there way over priced IMO

yep, i wonder if we could find someone to custom build a few for a group buy?

hmm i wonder too
hardest part is gettin the measurements rights, as soon as measurements are sorted, its surely not hard and expensive to make
any joiners members on here? lol

I'm no expert but it can't be that hard to glue some wood together with a hole in the middle. The only problem is that you need the right volume box to go with the size of your sub, its all maths, anyone know how to calculate that? or is that just taking things to far!:headhurt:

I'm not sure I should say yes... feeling like a bit of a nerd
I'd been looking into doing this recently too, what sort of price do people think is more reasonable.

£20
lol nah i dunno, defo not £190 for the sub box and £190 for the amp box for the other side, thats £380 just for some wood!!!

i think the back of the boxes is sculpted out of fibreglass, and then the front is mdf, so its £380 for some fibreglass and some wood. I think £60 ish would be a ball park figure for a sub box for me

i would prob charge nearer £100, its a messy job, dealing with toxic products, not to mention expensive and time consuming

i'm sure i will be persuaded when i see the final product! :)
I would defiantly buy one for a £100! Go on craig! Please!

lol @ people thinking the autoacoustics ones are expensive. There is a days work in making one of these ( and that's if you're really quick, in practice it takes significantly longer ) and probably about £100 worth of materials ( Fibreglass, resin, MDF, brushes, carpet etc etc )
So even if you were paid minimum wage, you'd still not make it for less than autoacoustics, and that's without making a profit.
I'll be selling the one I made for my wifes Leon at some point, but it wont be much cheaper than the linked one ( but it's better than the autoacoustics one  )

first dibs on that one Pete ;)

what ICEcavern said there is very true. AutoAcoustics are not overpriced @ £190 for a sub box. I had mine custom made by some mates for £180 (incl. all wiring).
Don't forget AutoAcoustics have spent plenty of time calculating the best possible design keeping in mind what most subs need to work at a good level. I actually called up AutoAcoustics about making a one-off and for that they charge £1400! now that's overpriced.
If you want a box made specifically to your sub (which is what i'd recommend) then you're better off getting a custom one, ported/sealed...all depends on what you're looking for.
P.S you don't need an AmpBoxz as most people screw the amp onto the rear of the back seats :)

Like Nickyjam said I just paid £140 for my custom ported box as seen here...
http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?t=177540
Obviously you pays for what you want.
Mine is custom built to the exact specs for my sub Digital Designs 2512 12"
I was happy to pay the £140 for mine simply because I wanted it to make the most of my sub & off the shelf boxes just arent that good becuase what suits one sub doesnt suit another.
Get the best you can afford but dont scrimp on it because that bit extra to get one built to spec is well well worth it

Just because most people do it doesn't make it right
The amp box is a great idea, it's a very tidy way to mount your amp. Screwing an amp to the back of the seats never looks tidy.

didn't say mounting the amp on the back of the seat is right Pete. They were summing up the cost of both a StealthBox & AmpBox and simply said that this is the easier and cheaper option :D
Soundwave: have you installed the sub yet? i would like to see what it'll play down to and whether it'll ever use the full potential of that port ;)

Not yet.
I'm collecting it tomorrow & should have it in by the end of the weekend.
Apparantly it's tuned down to 36Hz which is the recommended tuning for my sub
All things being well I'll be at the AMD Essex Cup next Sunday (13th) if you'r there your more than welcome to a listen :)
