Well last Saturday I started installing the ICE for the Cupra :)
Nothing much to see at the moment really only laid the cables & deadened the front doors but thought I'd share with you the current build pics...
0Awg Cable run from Battery down Passenger side trim...

Front Doors deadened with Second Skin Damplifier Pro Sound Deadening.
2 Layers per door with 4 layers around the speaker
1 Door is much better than the other as I got more used to laying it by then :lol:

RCA's & Speaker Cable has been run down the drivers side trim no pics of that though as my battery died on my camera :(
Will be working on the boot deadening tonight & then Sunday will be spent installing the H/U Amps & Front Components
Pics of those to follow soon :D
Neil
Will be interested to see the pics of this when I get home (can't see them because of my works firewall)
Doing similar to mine at the moment. Detailing it in the IceCavern.
What are you planning for the boot? I'm currently building a false floor and side panel for a Fibreglass "wheel arch" subbox. Not sure if I want the floor hinged so I can get to the spare wheel or just go out and buy some tyre weld and hope for the best!
Cheers,
Steve

Not much to see in the pics to be honest I'm afraid Steve ;)
I'm not planning too much for the boot really as my box will pretty much take it all up ;)
http://i185.photobucket.com/albums/x309/father_flump/Sub7.jpg
Box is 2.6Cu Ft with 36sq" of Port tuned to 40Hz (Total after displacement & internal volume is 3Cuft)
Amps will be mounted to the back seat's as they are pretty sturdy to be honest
I'm going to be running an active front end for more control & hopefully better tonal balance.
Total system will be...
Pioneer DEH-P8600MP Head Unit
Phoenix Gold Ti Elite 6.5" Components
Digital Designs 2512 12"
Genesis Profile 4 running Active front end
Genesis Profile Sub running @ 2Ohm
I'll be running tyre seal for mine after the build...no way I'll be getting at that spare wheel when that box is installed ;) lol
Will keep you posted on the rest of the build :)

There we have it, roughly 2 & a half days work & it's easily the best system I've ever owned.
Crystal clear vocals, awesome lows & so perfectly integrated, so glad it's finally finished so I can enjoy it properly
Neil
The whole system looks top! I'd love to hear what that's like ;)
The specs sound nice and pricey :D

How have you secured the box to the car? Also just out of interest, are you not worried about having the cables all running between the seats like that? I'm guessing you don't fold them down often.

It's currently secured by safe sensible driving ;):cartman:
But I'm getting ready this weekend to build a false floor to hold it in place better.
To be honest though the box is so heavy it wont move without some serious provocation so at the moment I'm just taking things easy till after the weekend.
We decided it was the best way to run them, the seats only ever get taken down to fiddle with the amps so at the moment we are quite happy with the location.
If I have to start flipping the seats then we'll look at other locations for the cable because it will start to pinch a bit too much for my liking but at the mo all seems fine.
Thanks for the comments guys

How did you do the tweeters on the sail panels?

How did you do the tweeters on the sail panels?
That's easy Mike - i've done mine there too. Just use a hole drill and use the baskets supplied with the tweeters :)

How did you do the tweeters on the sail panels?
Hey Mike,
Wasnt that difficult really, once you get the door card off the Sail Panels are just held on by one clip at the top.
We popped them off & used a dremel to make a hole big enough to mount the back through so they sit flush (The tweeters actually have a lip which means it was easy to flush mount them to the panel) then we used a hot glue gun to fix the tweeters in place.
Left the glue to cure for a while, when they were nice & solid refitted & wired up
Hope that helps.
I should really have taken a few more photo's of the process but didnt thing about it at the time...sorry :(
Neil

Oooo I recon a low speed impact will get that box moving forwards of the front seats...

He's right .... you could use the luggage strap holders to run a couple of travel straps from - a box of that size and weight needs securing. Any impact, even a relatively low speed one would see it come though the back seats.
Blimey Neil, that's awesome! Cant wait to hear it..

I suspect it will hit quite hard in more ways than one (unless it's strapped down ;) )

Well we've come up with a plan for mounting it now...
Sub will be raised off the boot floor on a 15mm MDF false floor & using brackets front, rear & left side will be Bolted to the floor.
Then we will create a raised platform using 15mm MDF to wedge the box in place & again we will use brackets sandwiched between both parts of the false floor & screwed from the top down into the bottom of the floor so there will be brackets holding the box in the place which should hopefully be enough to keep it stable in the hopefully unlikely event that I have a dink ;)
Blimey Neil, that's awesome! Cant wait to hear it..
Thanks Maz.
Well next time your free your welcome for a listen :)
What wiring did you use mate?
I am lookint at buying a load of Phoenix Gold stuff cos I think the wiring is as important as the hardware.
What do you think?
Could the spare wheel well be used to house a sub if you raise the boot floor a bit? I dunno if the cubic capacity would be enough for the sub to work maximally

I've always been a believer of buying good qaulity cabling.
I've used Autoleads 0 Guage cabling kit This one (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/autoleads-pc428-0awg-twin-p-3788.html?cadid=4a62b0e7f980ce7e742cd3bd357ecc79)
It's 0 Guage Power Cable run to the fused dizzy block & then 4 Guage power cable run to each of the amps.
RCA's I bought 5m SPL Dynamics jobbies These ones (http://www.caraudiodirect.co.uk/dynamics-sc50-p-5668.html?cadid=4a62b0e7f980ce7e742cd3bd357ecc79)
Which are really good for the money in my opinion.

You can use the spare wheel well to make a reasonable enclosure if you raise the sub up slightly with a false floor & infact a fellow member has done just that.
Slick has done a false floor build using the spare wheel well to house a Lazar 12" Sub.
Havent heard it myself but the quality of the build is mighty fine :D
I went for the design I did simply because it was the easiest way to get the best from it :D:D
Neil
I can strongly recommend Audison Connections Cables
Their Sonus range is outstanding.
