Ey up lads,

I am in no way ICE orientated but am wanting to upgrade the stereo in my Ibiza 20VT.

I do realise there is no OBVIOUS way to change the headunit but i'm hoping you guys can help.

Has anyone any pics of different positions to place a headunit.

Any help would be much appreciated

Cheers

There's a couple of installs on www.icecavern.co.uk in the gallery. Why are you wanting to change though mate?

If you're not really into ICE then maybe just a speaker upgrade is all you need, it will sound better...

I couldn't change the headunit cos its a company car. What I did was get a line converter for the rear speaker outputs.

Then run RCA leads to the boot, put an amp in, share some channels using an RCA splitter and put a set of 7x10's and a JL audio boxed sub in the boot.

It sounds really good to be honest, and I'm kinda into stereo's. Its a much cheaper option that locating a headunit else where or hacking the dash to pieces.

Also a set of front components would sort things out good and proper too. Thats next on my list! :D

Hope this helps.

Cheers lads,

I'm mainly wanting to change due to lack of CD facilities + theres nothing like a sexy head-unit lighting up the dash.

But good advice is what i was after, so i will look into your suggestions.

Just one more question, how did the bloke(sorry i can't remember the name) who removed his fans and put the tv head-unit it manage it. I asked at my local ICE shop and they seemed to think it was a pre-moulded attachment or something like that. Also, seeming to think it would be rather expensive!

Cheers once again

It's custom mate, both installs I know of like that have cost a fair bit. They have to remove the dash to do a good job and then remove the air vents and block the piping. It's not an easy job and costs £££

SQ+ I have been told won't do this mod either, not sure why though...

I personally wouldn't recommend this at all.
Its a bitch to do and get right you have to remove the whole entire dash and bits n pieces and I have indeed seen a few that look pants.

Another alternative would be to de something like Saul or Mike20vt have done, sure someone has some pics somewhere.
Coincidently I may be selling my modified shelf thing(same as mikes)if things materialise!

Oh yeah and petes right about SQ+ not wanting to do this mod for reasons I won't go into as I got in trouble last time I mentioned it!
