View Full Version : 6 speed box slave cylinder ??
Hi,
I am using a 2002 Leon cupra 20vt engine and 6 speed box for a conversion, how does the clutch work as i dont see a slave cylinder on the gearbox just have a pipe with a bleed nipple on it going into the housing
:(
Amy
AFAIK the Leon 20VT clutch is fly by wire.

eh?
You sure Brian?
Throttle yea. but clutch?
Bill,
Yep, pretty well sure that the clutch connection is linked electronically.
Also, there's no direct engine vibe feel to the clutch through the pedal.
Maybe others can confirm, but I'm pretty sure.
Try mine tomorrow and see what you think.
Yep, clutch is mechanically hydraulic, but the sender from the clutch pedal to the master cyinder could be electronic.
I'm not 100% sure about this but I think that I read it somewhere. :dunno:
Maybe others can confirm either way.
I cant see it being a fly by wire hydrualic clutch, what would be the point?
I cant see Seat putting in all that extra parts, pumps, actuaters and software for a much more simple and cheaper master and slave arrangment.........

The slave cylinder is now a combined slave cylinder and release bearing, situated inside the gearbox. This is becoming common in a few VAG cars, such as Golf, Sharan and the Transporter van.
I will find a picture and let you all know.

Thanks for the responses guys .... I put the same post on another seat site last night and not one reply :(
OK, I have attached a picture of where we would expect the slave cylinder to be .. as you can see all there is, is a pipe with a bleed nipple on going into the housing. Is this the internal slave combo Stu??

Polishing tailpipes is their forte, not genuine SEAT information like on here.

I would say Yes, I will try and get a picture off the Seat parts CD, and post this.
Stu
Corrado Cupra 20vt (http://uk.photos.yahoo.com/bc/raddo_20vt/lst?&.dir=/My+Photos&.src=ph&.begin=9999&.view=t&.order=&.done=http%3a//uk.photos.yahoo.com/bc/raddo_20vt/lst%3f%26.dir=/My%2bPhotos%26.src=ph%26.view=t)
Were putting the 20vt in a corrado ....
Could take a while!!
It's all hydraulic - no FBW - that's the hydraulic master cylinder at the back of the pedal - then hydraulic hoses all the way to the clutch
Okey Dokey....me goes off to instil some proper knowledge into my bonce...:head:...:head:...:head:

Thanks to Flapper for the picture, but I think this is the one you need for the 6 speed...The slave cylinder/realese bearing is item no 4 on the picture....
Hope this helps.
