View Full Version : I'm having problems screwing!
No not that.
I'm looking to move the 'adjustable boost controller' that JABBA fitted from the right hand side of the steering wheel to run up the gap between the lower dash and the centre console.
This is to make it easier to remove for those warranty preservation moments.
I've located three screws to remove from the underside of the dash but I think there maybe some to remove inside the fusebox. Does anyone know how many there are?
Also one of the screws look quite 'rounded' What would be the best tool to use so as not to knacker it totally? I think I need some sort of 6 pointed screwdriver (technical term).
6 pointed = Torx bits,
Thats what you want. Any decent hardware store will stock them. If you want ease, Halfords stock them, but not the cheapest.

Problem is there's no easy way to know which size you need. I didn't fancy buying a whole set (cos never would use them) so I ended up taking my instrument cluster into town with me to hunt down the right size:p

Halfrauds do a screwdriver set that comes with about 20 heads that'll fit just about any screw you'll ever meet - only around £10ish from what I recall and means you can take loads of new stuff apart :D

Not for Torx bits as far as I could see. I have every screwdriver I have ever needed in the garage but no Torx at all (until now). Torx bits - what's the point?!
I got a set of Allen keys which have the torx head instead of the usual hex. head.
I almost got a set of screwdrivers from Halfords but seeing as I'll probably never use them again I got these for £8.99.
I managed to move the controller and when I get some velcro stuff today I'll see if I can fit it in the fold down ash tray ala James Bond.:D
Many thanks for all your help:cheers:
james bond stylie fold-old boost controller.
I like that.
Let us know how you get on, i`m booked for jabba in july.

I've taken out the actual lighter and velcro'd the controller to that useless area to the right of the removable tray, the cable comes from the pedal area through the back of the ash tray.
The ash tray needs to be pushed firmly back into place but I wouldn't say it needs forced and it sits flush with the rest of the dash.
I'd take a photo but my 'mate' still has my camera.

A) To stop Jo Bloggs from taking stuff apart easily, as Jo Bloggs doesn't have a Torx driver in his kitchen drawer
B) Better drive from a smaller sized screw head better suited to automatic assembly.
:D
