Alpine X100 install issues...

Got the HU installed but have a few questions...

1. When i swap the red/yellow wires to retain settings do i just do it mid wire (ie where the clear connectors are half way down each wire)?

2. Where have people routed their ipod? the usb lead doesn't seem long enough to route it anywhere so i'm guessing i'l have to use the ipods own (planning on routing to the ashtray)/

3, how do you get the ashtray out?

Hi Paul,
Not completely familiar with this model but.....
1. The alpine I had I just swaped the Red/Yellow wires mid wire where the connectors are.
I believe thats what they are for.
2. So does this model plug the USB socket straight into the head unit? If so, why not just buy a cheap 1 - 2m USB extension cable?
3. Not sure!! ;)

thanks steve, yes the usb cable plugs straight in the back and the lead they supply must be about 6 inches long!

EDIT:: Just found one of Pab's guides that tells you how to remove the ashtray :) This will hopefully enable me to get the USB cable down there rather than cutting holes in the glovebox :)
