View Full Version : Has Anybody Bought A Mk5 Ibiza Yet?
Just wondering if anybody has bought it yet?
What do they think?
And when will the 3 door verison be onsale?
I think someone has ordered one and january.
I'm considering buying one. It's a stunning car to look at, I was amazed by how nice it was!
The only negative for me is the engine - the 1.4 was underpowered when I did a test drive and the mpg and emissions of both the 1.4 and 1.6 are poor on paper.
As I said in another thread, if the engines were right - I'd have one, right now!

sat in the sc 1.4 at the motor show, asked on the cupra but no details. as said poor engines atm. the sc was nice inside although i hope you can chnage the interior trim colour, and the armrest in the middle of the drivers and passenger seats was not great imo
but more room and the seats were very comfy

ha ha, I got talking to a really nice lass about the Cupras. She mention she had a golf, then got chatting about launch of ibiza cupra and engines. Then she admitted to not knowing anything and didn't even work for SEAT!
What's the point in having "reps" at shows who know jack shit! Yeah she was a looker, but come on, people are there not to just look at cars, but ask and talk about them!
i may get flamed but i spend my whole lunch hour today studdying over the new mk5.
i sat in it, i drove it and i climbed under neath it to have a good look.
i must say i am dissapointed. the front is hiddeous! its just an roundish buldge with hardly any contours or changes in level. its bland, far too much black plastic and not enough aggression etc etc etc, interior is nice but should have a leather option.
dont like the HU, the dash and rear lights.. basically i think they have gone horribly wrong on this car.
if you look at a mk3 or mk4 they have this certain snarl to them which makes them look aggressive... this is just a bland bit of plastic in the rear view mirror.
im deffinatly going for a mk3 cupra, mk4 cupra or a leon cupra / R as these are IMHO much better looking cars
^^^
I do agree, but I would like to see what the Cupra will be like. Should look sweet hopefully. Me and Sparky have spoke about this before. People say the Leon and Mk3 look gash as standard which is partially true, then they make the Cupra specs look amazing! (check the Mk3 for example)
They will never make a car look as aggresive as the Mk3 IMO, but I have noticed how good some Mk4 can look.
As I say, give them chance to realse the Mk5 Cupra, and if it looks anything like the Bocanegra, it will be shit hot!
i recon if they dump the mk5 on its ars, give it some nice wheels and maybe a wide body kit, and a big engine upgrade... then you got my thumbs up!!!
yeah, but don't forget that their market isn't just enthusiasts ;) People on disability WILL have these, old people, estate agents etc etc
They have to cover a wide range of targets. You might think I'm wrong, but only this morning did i see a leon fr driven by a 60+ guy. Also seen the likes of TypeRs, Focus STs etc driven by old folk, family guys etc etc. Not just enthusiasts ;)
who said old disabled people cant be a enthusiast!

again it needs the right engine to shine i think
and as mat said lets hope the cupra looks like the bocanegra as it will be stunning and i will be round the local dealers for one
so when could i buy a ibiza sc?

Oct sometime, no prices yet so can't advise. We should be getting a demo around 16th sept I have heard
IMO its looks a bit bulbous, not as good as a mk3 or a mk4, saw one drivin around the other say in the strange yellow they have in the advert. I see why they say Perfection requires a touch of madness. Defo looks a lot better in the advert.

I had a good look at a red one outside Robinson's, Lowestoft the other night. I was surprised how small it looked and it seemed to be around 3-4 inches lower than the Mk4 next to it. I'm afraid i don't like it at all and the interior in particular didn't look much of a step up in quality from the previous model. I'm not at all impressed.
Sat in one last weekend and wasn't impressed at all - and that was without a test drive! The interior looks so plasticy (yes, even more plastic than the Mk4!) and the switches for the aircon, lights, blower etc are so tiny and tacky.
I hadn't even sat in an Ibiza before I saw the model I've got and fell in love with it - if the Mk5 was my first Ibiza experience I'd be sorely disappointed.
Yes, it might drive ok but if the equipment looks cheap and nasty it's certainly not going to keep the Ibiza lover loyal.
Right, I'll get off my soapbox now and go back to the dishes.... ;-)

Well its a big improvement over the mk4, the plastics don't scratch like the mk4 do, nothing rattles and just feels better all over, it aint going to change, just going to make do!
I think the interior in the MK5 is quite alot better than that of the MK4.
I think alot of mk4 owners in general just dont like the mk5 lol. History repeating itself there.

Defo, yes it could be vw type of soft touch but then the price would go up so there gota be a down side but the defo big improvements, The dash can also be black, I bet just most people have seen it in the white version as all the first ibiza's have it, normaly comes in black.
There selling thats the main thing lol

i like the mk5 sc interior, its not up to say audi levels but thats to be expected. It looks a little more basic as there are fewer buttons and such, but the quality is better

We're looking at getting one. We've booked a test drive at the Leigh-on-sea dealership for next week. We're after a black 1.4 5dr sport with all the extras they can possibly provide! lol
If we like the ride (which i think she will ;) ) then we'll slam a deposit down that very day and get it in time for xmas.

Took the test drive on Friday. Loved it.
Irfan, many many thanks for your great help on getting us a good deal. Yours was by far the best but it turned out one of her family members was in the trade anyway so we got a good discount that way. Thanks again though.
In the end we bought a black 5dr sport 1.4 with the following extras:
Electric folding door mirrors, TomTom cradle, Climate control, Bi-xenon headlights with cornering function, cruise control, Sport Design Pack, USB/iPod connection, Convenience pack, ESP with hill hold and Bluetooth communications pack.
Apparently nobody has requested so many extras as of yet. ;)
Its being built as we speak and should be ready within 10 -12 weeks! I cant wait!!! :D

Agreed. Shame they didnt release one in time with the petrol versions.
I do a bit of photography in my spare time so im currently looking for locations on where i can shoot some pics of the car when it arrives. Anyone know of a few good backdrops in the essex area that will really compliment the car?

Lol sounds like you had everything in the book really usb/ipod connection is abit pointless at the mo as seat don't have the rights to ipod to used it so if you have a ipod it doesn't work, Hill hold is brillant tho good choise!

Nice choice!:p Sounds like you speced nearly everthing... Other than not going for the most powerful engine currently available in the UK (1.6-105hp). Did you leave any box unticked?

Really that's a bit odd as other VAG brands such as VW do make use of the Ipod's?
Buy a alpine headunit for full ipod control! Bit odd that it doesnt work, it always used to!

I would've gone for the 1.6, insurance is not a problem for me (im 26) but it bumps it up a little for my gf who is 20. Plus we wanted to keep the tax down below the 1.5 mark so its a little cheaper. Not to mention we're getting this on top of moving into a 4-bed house in around the same time we get the car. Its all very exciting *says waving clenched fists* :D
We didnt go for the panaramic sunroof as
1) We hardly get any in this country anyway and
2) We opted for the climate control so that kinda cancels it out.
if you god forbid roll the car all the glass from the panoramic roof will cut you up like shrapnel anway!

ACTIVATION/DEACTIVATION CONDITIONS
The cornering light activation conditions are:
-Vehicle speed between 0 and 40 km/h
-Head fog lights disconnected
-Dipped/full beam connected
-Right/left side indicator activated
or steering wheel angle equal or
greater than 70o.
If the car is not equipped with ESP the
side indicator activation signal is used.
To deactivate the function at least one of the above conditions indicated must not
comply or the steering wheel angle should be less than 40o.
When the reverse gear is engaged, the Onboard net connects both fog lights in
order to increase the driver’s angle of vision.
