looking to replace my aura head unit with a shiny new HU to go with my shiny new ipod touch.
I looked at a few HU's but can't seem to find any that can be used with ipod touch.
I'm looking for complete browsing and selecting etc on the head unit, dont really want to be driving down the road with leads all over me etc.
No more than 200 sheets

How about this one from alpine?
IDA-X200 (http://www.caraudiocentre.co.uk/product_m-alpine-ida-x200_p-23163.htm)
only drawback is that it doesn't have a CD in, it's purely for ipod and mp3
or if ya wanna go a tenner over the limit, then you can get basically the same thing with a colour screen showin album art etc.
but it's a bit expensive for what it is

I tried all the alpine head units in halfrauds and found that they all said usb disc error on connection. They all said they were ipod ready though hmmmm
Was considering one of the alpine units until that happened

Go to your local AutoSounds. I got an Alpine unit from there with bluetooth, ipod control, USB control for £200.

Autosounds in newcastle? I used to work for them :) Car Audio Telecom Gosforth is worth a call - ask for Dave Nelson .. if he's still open :)

yeah the autosounds down near newcastle arena. top blokes, sorted my stuff out quickly, before the actual relaease date of the stuff I got.
There is also TFG in Newcastle, I know Monty the owner, he is sorting a load of cars out that are featured as staff rides in REVS, MAX, Fast Car etc.

God is he still going? I remember chatting with him when i used to work in Autosounds shop in the Metro Centre with Geoff - most people who went into Autosounds knew him - really nice bloke.
I had a good laugh working there, would have been about 1994/5 or so.

Yeah I have known him a long time. Reminds me of an old version of the guy that was on Braitains Got Talent, the dancing guy with the turban. Monty is mint. Really knows his stuff.
Autosounds arnt as expensive as I thought. They sorted my all the Alpine gear cheap, then I bough about 6 JL subs that had been ex demo for £10 each and sold them on a certain auction site for £40 a piece

Autosounds used to be partners with Garry who runs Sungold Auto Electrics, he went off and did more on the Sony gear / TOAD alarms. Dave Nelson and David Coates stayed at Autosounds and then Dave Nelson went off to do his own thing and i went off to British Gas to do computers - i worked part time for Dave after he left doing saturdays, i'd have done it for free tbh as it was good fun.
It's one of the few jobs I actually miss. Have you ever stood inside Autosounds and felt the building move? It's built on rubber suspension - rumour has it that it stops the the building being shaken by the bass from the cars being installed under it in the workshops :)
Don't suppose you know if Steve Dunn / Ian Hunter still work there or Barry who ran the workshop?

Ian is a TOP bloke, really really helpful - sure he used to work for Turners in Sunderland - next time you're in there, say hi from me - although i doubt he'd remember me ... although he will remember Lisa if you mention her ;)
If he's still there i'll pop in next time i'm up that way.
