The problems started two days ago listening to a cd and my components on the passenger side of the car start crackling. Now everytime i listen to music they do the same :( When the car is stationary, with the engine running and when switched off, the speakers work fine, not a single crackle, but as soon as i start driving the passenger side comps start to crackle and its doing my head in.
Had a bit of free time so i decided to investigate the problem. so first things first i took the doorcard off and checked the following:
Woofer.... no damage, wiring good
Tweeter.... as above
Crossover.... as above
Just to double check i got out some of my spare stuff and quickly tried a different crossover... situation was still the same (crackles when driving).
Also tried a new tweeter... situation still the same.
So i returned it all back to the original set up.
Next i took the headunit out (still running standard mk3 ibiza h.u btw), all the wiring was good, no loose connections etc.
So i went to the boot and had a play with the amp, all was in good order, i'm getting a good feed out of the amp to the speakers and recieving a good input at the crossover so surely the wiring between these must be good.
By this stage i was about ready to tear my hair out, so fustrated! :censored: I'm guessing its got to be a loose conection of some sort causing it to go open circuit.. as if it was short circuiting the amp would be going into protect and it would cut output to all the speakers, not just the passenger side
Somebody help me!!!! lol

my old beefa car did the the same the same thing and turned out not to be the speakers, it was the wiring of the car i found that out by testing the speakers, just connected them to another car and they worked fine, so i replaced all the wiring in the car for the speakers they then worked with no problems whats so eva, howeva if u have them amped i would check your rca's on the back of the head unit.........
or if youve got another car try them in that see if you get the same fing......

Try swapping the left/Right RCA's (phono leads) over where they enter the amp.
If the problem swaps sides of the car, then it is a problem somewhere before the amp. (head unit/RCA's)
If it stays on the one side, then it is the amp or cables after the amp.
Swap the RCA's back after this.

Completely swapping over the crossovers (inputs and outputs) in the same way will also rule them out.

Engine running or not would seem to rule out any RF interference.
Have you got a speaker cables anywhere near your amp power cables? Could be an issue.
double check all you cable connections (power and speaker) as even a single fine copper strand could cause a partial earth problem. Check the amp earth. Bad earths can cause this too.

Hope this helps.
Cheer,
Steve
