View Full Version : koni kit for the cordoba
http://www.larkspeed.com/pages/productpages/sus_koni_kits.html
this more expensive kit for the 16v sx?whats the difference, springs rates i susupect or justa printing guff:confused:
btw first new cordoba thread in days, get typing ya boring sods:p
From memory jase the springs are different between the cordy and ibiza, prolly is different poundage to compensate the (slight) extra weight.
:drink:
Larkspeed were doing a promo on Koni SSk kits a while back. I think their Ibiza kit was going for something like £320
I'd seriously look at FK Automotive kits. Their High Tec kit uses Koni manufactured dampers, uprated 20% over OEM, are non-adjustable and use the same FK specced progressive coil springs as all the other kits. For Ibiza I was quoted £240 delivered. I can pick it up too there's a dealer local to me.
The more expensive kits use the same Koni yellow Sport adjustable dampers.
I'm beginning to womder how much adjustability I actually need, after all on standard supension all you can do is mess with pressures on tyres. I don't honestly think I will use the height adjustment but FK don't do a damping only adjustable kit. They do a height only adjustable one and a kit which is height and damping adjustable.

This is the thing Ed, most people buy a height adustable kit and set it and leave it (obviously if u have a desired setting) but i think they are aimed at people who are either:
a) trying to "slam it on its ass"
b) fiddling with the set up to gain best handling characteristics
Thats really why i went with the H&R kit as id set it and probably leave it.
If you're buying adjustables for set up purposes, then you'd best and spending the extra on a fully adj. kit that has height, damping and rebound adjustment. (albeit these are usually £1k a kit)
The age old addage "yer pays yer money etc etc"
PS everytime you change it anyway you have to have the geometry reset
Exactly. Long-term the car will not be used daily but more as a toy but i suppose when that time comes I might as well sell the kit on it and buy what I need then rather than buy it now only to find it's a bit tired for track work later.
Damping adjustment - I think i would play with that on my road car, but only if they are all on car adjustable. Many kits require you to drop the rear suspension to adjust the damping which almost makes adjusting the fronts a waste of time.
The FK stuff looks pretty good (they do loads of bits; more than any other single manufacturer I know of for SEAT). I mean the dampers are all KONI manufactured and I believe come direct from Koni ready to go as opposed to being re-valved or tinkered with by FK - so you can't argue on the quality.
i want to see if the seat sport kit works on the mk2 cordoba.if the mk3 ibiza is as heavy as i think they will have had to uprate the spring to compensate for it nad would be ok on the cordie.
or am i talikng pish:confused:
front springs will be different jason
I'll have some ibiza springs that we can swap about soon if you like to see if they're stiff enough

I got the FK coilover kit fitted this weekend - stainless steel adjustable Koni's very nice. I'll let you know how I get on. The camber settings are wrong at the moment it only wants to go straight ahead!

and your findings were..............
for 200 quid i can't fault em brend.widening the rear track has help with what i thought was soft rear springs.car now handles extremely well.for the price of a koni or bilstein kit i now have
front and rear anti roll bars, suspension and rear spacers.

ride height, photos?
i need dampers as ride is a little bumpy and my eibach springs have plenty of life left yet. so im looking for the best value for money.
you may find better value for money by buying a kit brend and flogging the springs on.just looking through demon theives as a guide ,£110 each for koni dampers on there own, iirc the kits are only around the £350 mark.
i got my kit from amethyst SEAT,dunno how many they had left,it may be cheaper to get them to ship you a kit over the water.not a bad kit at all imho.
m0rk will be able to fill you in on his kit,not a bad price iirc and hes happy with his;)

ok jase, was talking to mork the other day and think ive narrowed it down to fk or spax, out of interest have you seen the venommotorsport kits? 150 for 4 non adj dampers? get what you pay for seems to echo.
they are in perf vw this month and last.

looking like it jase, my only concern was trying to get an f2 to fit with fk. if i go for fk then ill stay standard bumper and run her iin then more perf bits.
as far as i know supersport coilovers are gmax too euhhhhhh....
f2 looks the bollox mate, but as you know is very impractical, might get the front bumper a bit higher with the pram in the boot now;)

funny fecker!! itll be towed behind!!!
The lower model FK kits are Boge/Sachs dampers I'm told, but I know the adjustable ones are their spec made by Koni (like the Koeningsports coilovers and above).
