hey peeps. im going to france near to the end of Aug (bank holiday weekend) with a mate for abit of a road trip and also a booze cruise as you do....

was just wondering ive looked throught the manual and so forth but can seem to find where it tells you where to put the refelctors to prevent blinding the french. although it is amusing to anoy them. if anyone can help it would be apreciated.

cheers

if you get the ones from halfords it shows you where to put them. basically the top of the round reflector should be in line with the middle of the dip bulb from memory. other things to note, in europe you MUST have a hi-vis in the cabin of the car (not the boot; the police like to check outside calais too), a warning triangle in the boot and a gb sticker (unless your plates have the gb emblem already).
i recently came back from france nicely loaded up with endless crates of 33 export (£4 for 30 bottles :D)

its for if you break down appaently; and it must be in the car with you so you can put it on before getting out - strange rule i think, but it is a £120 fine for not having it from memory! the deflectors from Halfrauds are about £10 with a GB sticker, or £20 with warning triangle, GB sticker and Hi Vis.
Are you cruising around france atall or just going to the Calais hypermarkets?

im going to a house near to Arras about 1 and a half hrs drive south from Calais/ Dunkerque over the bank hols weekend to chill and hoepfully get some sun, do abit of work on the place and pick up the required amounts of booze and fags on the way back. the times me and my mate are crossing it will be light anyways so should be ok but chances of a 19/20 year old lad in a FR getting pulled over me thinks is quite high :S so will make sure they cant fine me

ah i went down near arras too! the toll road on the way there is awesome; well surfaced and quiet = big speed! i know what you mean, i'm 21 but don't look it and got stopped coming back into dover; and got quizzed about who owned the car, how long i'd had it etc etc. hope you have a good time mate

brilliant road isnt it annnnd the great thing is if you get flashed by a speed camera it does count = result :) love that road probs is ill be docking at dunkerque but might divert to take the nice french version of the Autobahn..... lol ill get my quizz cards made up and ready also just incase i get pulled. i think seat should arrange a road trip abit like the gumball rally from dover to the south of france or something but call it the VAGrally or even better trip to Leon in france . . . .?

that'd be excellent - good old road trip. i didn't see any police when i was there, which is fortunate considering the speeds travelled!!

hi-vis for anyone in car ie 4 people, 4 jackets, spare bulbs, spare glasses if used for driving, licence and car docs in car whilst driving even if its only to the shops.
loads more things but most are common sense anyway wherever you're driving
