I am also having a similar problem with the boost on my Ibiza R as WileE http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=17886 . In fact I have had a whole host of problems, most caused by my local Seat dealer. (I know travel 30 miles to my next nearest Seat dealer, who have been brilliant).

My Ibiza has always had nice pulling power (not just with the ladies!). You could usually feel the turbo kicking in at around 3500 revs, and you really could feel it push you back in your seat.

This weekend down at Silverstone I had the Revo trial installed, Cheers Kev. Before the trial was installed Kev noticed my car was showing a MAF sensor error. He advised me it could exaggerate any problem, but I went ahead anyway as I hadn't noticed any problems when driving and couldn't resist 200+ bhp on the way home.

Made it home to Bradford. What a ride home, even pulling away at 100mph was excellent. Upon arriving in Bradford put my foot down for one last burst of power and POP! Something blew and I was left with the sound of gases being released. I prayed for it not to be a blown turbo and for the Seat garage not to wise up to the fact I had noticeably more power than I should have.

I put the problem down my local Seat dealers workmanship again and not the fact I had been Revo'd. I had the AA man tow me to a different Seat dealership to let them have a look. They fixed the problem the next day putting it down to a poorly fitted dump valve which had been replaced under warranty by my local Seat dealer. (The dump valve didn't need replacing and it's not the first time they had failed to do the job properly, but that's a whole other story).

I told the Seat garage that I had had my car on a laptop with VAG-Com at the weekend (definitely no mention of Revo Flash on the laptop for warranty sake) and had shown up a MAF sensor error. I was told this was most probably because the dump had not been fitted correctly.

I have now had the car back a few days and the Revo trial is no more. It has been running fine but I have noticed a serious lack of power. OK maybe I got too used to the Revo, but I no longer have that kick at 3500revs that I had before. Occasionally I have felt that kick of power come in at around 5000revs.

Is this the kind of problem that occurs when the MAF sensor is on it's way out?

Mark,

Reset the ECU (adaption) - this will make a difference.

Here's how you do it (god knows iv'e asked Bill & Flapper enough times :D)

The car must have a cold engine i.e have been standing for a while (say first thing in the moring or late at night after it's cooled)

Take of the positive battery connection (single 10mm bolt is loosened and clip raised - jam an insulator in there to keep it away form the terminal) leave for 5 mins or so or cup of tea time :).

Replace connection.

Next bit is important (you may want to practice this once before anything is disconnected). Put they key in and switch it to the ignition setting which does not turn the car over, but activates the auxillary electronics - fan etc. Leave it like this for 3-4 mins. This is a trottle adaption process.

OK. go drive. You should notice a difference.

Cheers

Dor.

Thanks Dor.

Gave it a go this lunchtime and it seems to have cured it.
