I went to change my insurance over and found that tesco will not insure me soo the hunt is on for lowest price insurance.
Im 20 with 1 crash against me and 1yrs no claims(mum will defo be going on the policy to help) but am getting quotes of £2500+ fully comp for my 51reg ibiza cupra. Can anyone help have tried all the famous companies and no joy so far
is this a new car? if so, did you not check on insurance before you bought it?
in terms of companies have you tried the likes of adrian flux? greenlight are ok but you need to be 21 i think.

how abot trying some companies that give named drivers their own ncb and have your mum as the policy holder. this is really something you should have sorted before buying

i havent tried that yet, but the car was so cheap and there will be some companies that are more realistic with there quotes. Performance direct just quoted me £2200 :)
Adrian flux were stupid money aswell lol

£2200 sounds stupid money to for a Cupra. By the time you add in costs for petrol,MOT etc you just as well get a taxi everywhere you go.
couldn't agree more devonmikeyboy, there is a reason why the quotes are so huge. I don't see why people don't wait until they are a little more experienced (and thats not an insult mate just a general observation).
Besides, I loved having sh*t cars for a while, gives you something to use to learn about cars and how they work and if you prang them it really doesn't matter.

putting the policy in you mums name when you are the registered keeper and main driver is a no no.. insurers will more than likely clock on and will not pay out in the result of a claim. had one of these recently.
btw putting your mum on as a named driver does not always help and a lot of the time can increase a premium

thanks for all your different opinions, but i can afford all the running cost and insurance was just asking for advice on what insurance company to use. And considering i work on and drive a variety of different sized engines everyday and have been driving three years i feel i have got abit of experience. Thanks all
I don't understand how the insurance company works out the premium..
I was with quinn last year and got a renewal through that was higher than what I was paying the previous year!
Currently with kwik-fit (lol) and its costing me £1800 TPF&F! Rediculous :( but it was the cheapest by £2000

early days, run it for a while and see LOL
dont think anyone meant any criticism towards your capabilities BUT 3 years is nothin!! your a baba! :p
if you want to put it in perspective though, i got mine at 20, i paid 850ish at the time. That was with norwich union who under normal circumstances would not insure anyone under 21 on these cars and aint Mod friendly. I'm nearly 24 now and with Privilage, this years policy was 500. It pays to be privilaged
If I could insure a group 16 car for only 2.2 grand id be well chuffed never mind you only having 1 years ncb and a crash against your name.
