Ive only had this car a few weeks, and its the first diesel manual car ive owned for years. The first MPG I got was 48mpg, then I didnt bother to check it again (seeing as it was around 33% BETTER mpg than the Fiat Punto auto I had before!)

I filled my car on Bank Holiday Monday at my local Total, and have today filled the car at the same place, same pump, same outside temp and the same trickle to really brim it.

Now its been driven by me (ie not that slowly) for about 200 miles this week, all around town, plus 100 miles approx that my partner used it (and when he drives it he's like an old woman - but when he gets into his smart he's like a thing possessed!). All this with the aircon on full.

£18.00 of Diesel = 23.71litres @ £.759 = 5.21 gallons.
304 miles travelled divided by 5.21 gallons = 58.35 mpg

 This cannot be right can it?

I'm never going to get enough Total Tops points to get a £5 Boots voucher at this rate!

dont have a 90. I think StuB has one

I have a 110, which is pretty similar and according to SEAT almost identical figures to the 90. I've got into the 58,59,60 sometimes, but I average around 50-55 mostly on motorways, so it could be right.

Havent checked your sums as its a Sunday and I dont like to use my brain on a sunday ;)

Well if it stays like that then thats bloody marvellous! I wasnt expecting anywhere near as high, I was guessing at just under or just over the 50mpg mark!

Oh well, that Boots voucher will have to wait!

Well I can only say that unless your ME! you can get 55 mpg if you drive carefully easliy.,, I use to get that plus.. But since I have added the K&N/ and Tunning box, tweaked & purrs; Filled up this moring - I'm affriad I only got 43! Bohoo

BUT WHAT THE HELL:devil: Its more fun now!!!!

On a seperate note my wifes Alhambra running around town gets 45mpg! So on the run to the south of France this year I'm hoping for around the 50mpg fully loaded!!!! Which puts your safe considerate eco driving of 58 mpg into yeah thats probable..

Well 58mpg is pretty damn good, my dad has a Golf Mk4 TDI 90 and he regularly gets about 52-54mpg. but he doesnt hang around though, he likes to put his foot down round the windy country roads to work. And he doesnt have air con!

I cant tell any difference (admittedly using the trip computer-which is a couple of mpg out) with the air con on or off.

Did 54mpg this morning on way to work, Andover A303-M3-M25Chertsey, 50 miles lots of traffic so was at 50-70 most of the time.

Blimey, My 110 doesn't seem to be able to do much better that 40mpg at the moment. The engine seems to go great so I'm hoping it's just a combination of city driving and an new engine (5k miles now, is that still considered new?)

that pretty bad mpg, i would take it back and complain, as the owner before me i reckon drove it hard and the mpg meter was showing 43mpg when i got the beezer 8k ago.

And yeah your still running it in though mate, the VAG diesels not considered run in until 80k! and my dads 90bhp golf tdi is still getting better mpg as it gets more and more miles on it, its at 45k now and still loosening up...

stack them miles on.

the other 110 owners on this site also get about the same as me, about 50-52mpg. but then i dont drive hard.

when i get the chance to drive hard then it drops to the high 40's or 50 (trip taking into account!).

I have seen an improvement over time aswell. Mines done 43k now, so almost run in ;)

Well I filled up late last night - 16.98 ltrs 220miles 60MPG ! So it can be done.......... Now it will be back to the mid 40's as I enjoy `Driving` to much not `grandad` style, bare in mind that my daily route is country A class roads, so lots of bends, hills & villages....

My last fill up was another 58mpg job, its amazing. I dont drive that hard, use the torque more than the power, but never is there a queue of traffic held up behind me. :) I will one day try and see how much i really can get out of it, but that'd be so boring and for what, a few extra mpg?

TDi rules!
