Hi

The rear beam of the ibiza is same as polo-4. If you want to uprate the rear beam bushes then you need polo-4 fitment but very few are currently available, none from powerflex, superflex, polysport etc at present - they are available from Bonrath only as part of a whole car bush kit (Awesome are Bonrath dealers) but last weeks find was that VW motorsport have them as part of their polo 4 gp-N program - bushes made using original bush moulds but with an uprated rubber compound. Available only through VW motorsport by special order (part no. 6NV 501 541) - 66 euro each bush and you need 2 for the car (+vat and delivery from germany)

For VW racing bits see www.vwmotorsport.com

Cheers

Anyone now if this kit Rob mentions is still the only feasible option?

Is it going to be a bit harsh for the road?

Or would I be better off just going for new OE ones?

What would you recommend Rob cos I don't want it to be overly harsh for the road?

If you are concerned with on-road harshness then you could consider new OEM ones or yellow compound powerflex - powerflex only do bushes for the front of an ibiza however. Its my understanding that these are not much harder than stock (so sayeth the powerflex man).

Dont have any experience with bonrath bushes.

The VW motorsport rear beam bushes was a bit of a saga as it happens - there appears to be 2 options for the rear beam, big ones same size as golf 4 and smaller ones - my car needed the smaller ones (of course the opposite to the ones I received first !), not sure if all ibiza's are the same. I have them now but not fitted as yet - winter job now. Dont know what they will be like on the road - made with OEM moulds but with much harder rubber - rally spec done for polo cup cars so will be pretty firm I would imagine.

Bear in mind that suspension bushes are not easy to fit unless you have a well stocked garage and some mechanic-ing ability - front wishbone rear bushes in powerflex black 'race' compound were I think probably the hardest fit I have yet done on my car (cam swaps are by comparision dead easy).

Ave it

Powerflex yellow I've experienced before but the car's getting to the age where bushes start needing replacing. Rear's a bit more skippy and wayward than it used to be which I put down to tired beam bushes.

I've no idea what these VW Motorsport bushes are like but I think I've assumed they're at least a harder compound than the Bugpack/Protahne/Powerflex 'uprated' varieties - 'rally spec' so made for punishment:D

I'll ponder a little while longer but would love to hear how you get on with them.

So, how did you find out which of the 2 fitments you needed? Did you just offer them up and do a visual? What measurements could I take to get the right ones?
