Just got a alpine ida-x100 off ebay today and when i put it in all seemed fine until i turned the instrument light dimmer all the way down and it turned off the stereo !

I was only testing the stereo worked as i dont yet have the fascia or iso harness leads which i ordered. Obviously the power to the stereo is picking up a feed from the dimmer control . Does anyone know how to fix this ? or would the iso lead i bought magically sort it out!

This is the lead

Any help is appreciated

Thanks

Sounds like its not been wired up correctly. It would appear that you have connected the ignition live wire to the dimmer control. (as the OEM stereo dimms with the dash).

You need to connect the ingition wire to another thats ignition controlled, or a permanent live if you want to turn to stereo on / off manually and not be effected by the ignition.

FYI VAG cars tend to have the permanent live and ignition live wires the opposite way around to that on standard stereo plugs.

I heard that you had to change the red and the yellow leads around but some people said they didnt have to . So i tried it standard and changed some settings , stored a radio station and then turned the car off for 10 minutes . when i turned it back on all my setting were still saved which made me think i wouldnt have to switch the wires .

anyone know where i can get a guide to what wires are what on the seat leon 2001 stereo loom . I figure that just switching the yellow and the red around wont fix the problem ???
