It seems that more and more MK4 tdi sports are hitting the forums and I was just interested in gathering a rough number.

As we all know, I have a yella one.
I see Rage has beefed up his sig along the same lines as mine. ONly difference is I have more cars, he has more mods ;) :p
..still waiting on the cordie, the Arosa business is coming to a close and there is now room on the drive :D
Ian
I don't drive one but I hope to have one soon.
I'm looking into the possibilities of upgrading as the jobs I'm going for are quite far away.

What insurance group is the 1.4 then?

as she calls it, is now 2 months old and a still bundle of fun in a straight line, especially likes to play with BMWs. An excellent Q car for motorway stuff, but I'm not so sure about the handling on twisty stuff, that front end is a wee bit heavy for my liking, my old 16V Polo definately seemed more chuckable.

Just counted myself in too...
quite surprised at the numbers. its more than I thought.
I have seen loads of Mk4s around Manchester - dont remember seeing any other TDi Sports though :D (unless they have taken off the red TDi badge!)

Same here, I think I've only ever seen 2 other TDI Sports on the road, but a reasonable number of other MK4's.
They never seem to be mentioned in the "Spotted" forum !

My 1.4 is IG5.
TDI is pretty much out the window as the prices on them haven't moved from what they were last year. The prices of 1.4s have slipped, so I would be looking at £3k+ or so to upgrade!
yes just added myself in, done some nice mods. I would post a picture up if you guys told me how to??

Cheeky Fecker. I let you past lest you do both cars a serious injury. Which you nearly did. ;)
Thanks only to my advanced driving skill and superior road holding I was able to avert a certain disaster and save both cars at the cost of a shallow victory. :D :) :)

Ahem, I agree we had a very close moment on track, and both almost suffered vomiting of the heart..
I won't comment on driving skill, but I did take to the grass to avoid an incident! But road holding? wasn't it me who complemented you on that, only for you to state that actually you were all over the place! I think the state of your tyres said it all! ;)
Cheeky Fecker indeed :D
Without the TDi 130s this place would be a lot less happening!
Can't wait until Haynes, I have tread left too!

You'd be suprised how much the performance has increased from 6000 miles to 10,000 miles. The engine has really loosened up, and the performance just keeps getting better day by day.. It must stop sometime though.. :(
I'm going to give it 1000-1500 miles before i get it REVO'D.I think that should be plenty
I had 3K on mine before I had it revo'd but that was because I didn't have the money to get it done sooner.
 It's not the money side that's holding me back it's the female side!!!( the other half:p )
I was wondering how many of "us" have defected from the petrol variants such as I have from my Leon Cupra???

Thought I'd bump this poll back into view, as there seem to be a few more 130 owners in the forum now....

I will be contract hiring a red 5 door Ibiza TDI Sport from mid September. I cant wait to get rid of my underpowered and badly built Fiesta Zetec S.
Should I be looking at replacing the Radio CD player, as I have heard thatthey are pretty poor?

Hi Nick
It depends how much of an audiphile you are really; I find the standard radio/CD perfectly OK, but quite a few people have upgraded. Best to wait and see really....

Got one in highly Auto Glymmed flash red, but not for much longer - it decided to understeer for its country into a kerb on a roundabout near here on Tuesday, and when the repair guys have put new front suspension on it, it's going. Can't be doing with a vehicle that doesn't do corners, especially one with the sort of poke that these have. I was doing less than 40 on a dry road, too. :(

Wonder if we'll hit the 30 mark ?

You must have had a duffer m8, my last two cars where Zetec S Fiesta's & I loved them. Thought they went quite well for 1600cc.The handling was exellent, woderfull short throw gear-change, perfect steering weight. never had any problems with mine, not up to Seat quality but better than many others for build. I may not have had them long enough for bits to fall off, 12 months the first one and 18 the other. I love my TDi 130 but I miss the fiesta handeling. I find the radio/cd fine although radio reception can be poor (Radio 4 old fart)but if your into ICE it no doubt falls short.
Nick,
I've replaced the OE head unit with an Alpine CD model and put an Alpine 6CD Changer in the boot. Alpine head is a CDA-7893R so has MP3 support (as does the changer).
It's bloomin good - so good, the OE speakers probably won't last much longer :D
it decided to understeer for its country into a kerb on a roundabout near here on Tuesday
so Im not the only one who think this about the standard setup, and even the modified setup.
Darren
I agree about the handling, Im guess thats what you get with a heavy engine over the front wheels. I used to have a peugeot 106 rallye, now that could take a corner, but didnt do 50+mpg.
I am well pleased with the car though. looks good, goes well, and corners ok.

:) I'm impressed good fuel consumption reasonable performance, wayward handling, but my old car was a Mini Cooper.
All that understear must be the Krupps cast Iron up Front.
Custard Yellow Ibiza 130 Tdi
Tweak the suspension a bit and they handle "MUCH" better. My thoughts on the standard set up have been well published on this BB. Be very interested to see what the Cupra R handles like when it hits the showroom next year. Otherwise, a good package.
Thinking of a test shot in a Fabia Vrs to see what that's like. Anyone tried one yet?
Enjoy... I certainly do "now".

I don't think I ever mentioned the best part - the bill for this little bit of kerb action came to £2,500, of which about £700 involved sorting out the airbag system as one of the side airbags decided to join in the fun. Thank Crunchie my no-claims is protected. Can't think that suspension mods to help prevent this sort of thing could cost more than this!
I'm buying a TDi Sport towards the end of the year to play with at my new work.
Drive plenty of them at the SEAT dealer I work at now (Stoneacre, Milton Keynes) and I think they are easily the best all around car that SEAT import to this country at the moment.

I've now got a flash red TDI Sport 5 door.
Absolutely delighted with it.

Sounds abit suspect to me, you eiter hit some oil, where not acatully doing less than 40 but more the 80 or you cant drive for toffee.
My front tyres stick like glue then give a nice progressive understeer to the outside of a bend. Got to be expected with a tdi lump up front, no amount fo suspention tweeks will compensate..
Ya canny change the laws of physics..
Adapt the driving style, slingshot out of the bends like a big bike, well sort off anyway.
