I can't make a judgement on my local dealer as yet as I have not been there yet, except to buy some mats, but I have been struck by the dreaded leaky door syndrome. The rear passenger footwell was soaked through and now the car stinks. I tried to book the car in for repairs, this was the beginning of the month and it had been pissing down for days. I was told that the earliest I could be seen was the 19th of December!

Although I can appreciate the fact that they might have a full book of work to be getting on with, from comments I have read in this forum, it seems other dealers (well, one or two) bend over backwards to help. I know this can't be classed as an emergency, but if water keeps flooding into the car, the damage is just gonna get worse. I have always had excellent support from my local dealer when I had a Rover 214, and absolutely diabolical rubbish from every Pug dealer I have ever had the misfortune to meet. I just hope and pray that the same thing is not going to happen with this car!

Luckily it hasn't rained for a few days, but the car still stinks even though it has dried out. Only 2500 miles on the clock!

Anyone have any positive remarks about dealers within reasonable reach of Southampton?

Cheers

I would take it to Amethyst or at least leave a note for Daz(Flapper) and see if he can help out as looking at the forums there doesn't seem to be many places that you can go!

Good luck

Lee, just out of interest....which dealer was it? Great Covert or Meadons? If it was Meadons.......say no more.

Due to the lack of decent dealers in the south (Dorset etc) I always take my car to Amethyst, from Poole / Bournemouth its about a 2hr drive there but I always come back feeling that I've been looked after and so has my car.

Cheers

Martyn,

It is Great Covert, I didn't want to mention them just yet until I have had the work done. I know there are other dealers but most people can't afford the time to drive 1 or 2 hours to a dealer, whatever their reputation. It's a sad fact that the majority are "stuck" with dealers in the local area. Since Seat are pretty small by comparison with the major manufacturers, there aren't that many about. However, I have the choice of 4 Pug dealers in reasonable distance. All have failed us in some way or another so perhaps choice is not the issue. Every dealer should be able to offer a reasonable level of polite, efficient service. Consistency in training and attitude (as long as it is consistently good!) will go a long way to maintaining a good brand - especially since consumer forums are playing a bigger role in influencing potential customer purchase decisions.

A case in point, I ordered 5 computers from a well-known manufacturer (in the days when a good computer cost £3,500 a piece), 3 of which did not work when we tried to use them. Their customer service was excellent (and has been officially recognised as such), so good that within the week, we were all sorted out and the poor QA was forgotten.

I shall give Great Covert a chance and report back, only 7 more days to wait!

Cheers

I've found spinnaker in Portsmouth to be good.

That's Great Coverts only bugbear, the time it takes to get a car seen. I personally have had a few minor problems looked at in quick time, which is good. I imagine your problem is one that would take a longer time to look at. Even so, with it being rainy season (for the last 26 years of my life in fact) they really ought to do something to aleviate the problem. Personally, I'd want a full valet as soon as it was fixed to get rid of all the shitty smells that a leaky car brings in.

I feel sorry for the chap (graham?) who books in all the cars at GC. When i have been around, he seems to get alot of hassle from non-seat purchased car owners (they sell S-Hand cars as well)

Fortunately I live just down the road so it's fairly easy to drop the car in without having a courtesy car.
