Currently reside on scoobynet and drive an X reg Impreza Turbo 2000. Job is moving and offering good relocation payment for buying a new house so Im looking to ditch the scoob for something more affordable to ease the purse strings for a decent mortgage. Looking around the Seat oil burners seem to fit the bill of looks, performance, reliability and economy.
I will be looking at the Leon or Ibiza depending upon how much I get for the Scoob (thinking around 11k). Dont want to pay UK dealer new prices so either import/car supermarket or 2nd hand to miss out on the main depriciation hit.
Have read a few posts and a lot of people buy from a guy called Win? Im guessing hes like the Colin on audi-sports.net???
Anyways just a few quick questions:
1. What are the servicing intervals? Or are they determined by onboard computer?
2. Service costs, minor/major?
3. Miles per tank roughly?
4. Cost per tank roughly?
5. Do they keep on going with high miles like VW's & Audi's?
Thanks,
Simon.
Welcome to the forum Simon. I'll get the ball rolling with the news on the Ibiza TDi Sport.
1. 10K
2. £67 for 10k, £130ish for 20k - that was as far as I went but 40k is a bigger one
3. 500-600 (see below)
4. There is a little air valve in the filler. If you open that to vent the trapped air you can get a little over £40 in if the fuel light was on. Mileages above are for a 'vented' tank as mine would click off with about £28 in it if I didn't vent it.
5. Mine did 27,500 before I sold it, 20,500 with the Revo chip and it was fit as the proverbial fiddle. The most likely troublespot would be the gearbox as 300+lb/ft is over its rated capacity. Should be identical to the VW product in terms of engine / transmission. Some rattles from the cabin but nothing major. Thicker metal on the body than a Scoob.

Am I right in saying that the Ibiza has just had a facelift? If so was the 130 sport available on the pre-facelift model or not?
Thanks,
Simon.

the old sport tdi was only 110bhp i think
The new model (totally new, based on the Polo / Fabia chassis) came out last spring. The 130PD wasn't available in the old model. The previous Sport was a 110 (I think sssstew has one) and they did a 90bhp one as well (BeezerDiesel has a tuned one).
To give you an idea on fuel consumption I have just been down to Poole in Dorset on holiday some 500+ miles there and back and I averaged 64.2mpg going down and 62.7 mpg coming back so taking into count the slightly over optimistic reading on the trip computer that's over 60mpg on a chipped car !!!!!
If that doesn't convince you to get one then you need to get in one check it out.

You want to get a 130 sport ibiza mk4, thats from 2002 - present. Its the best one of the bunch, as everyone will tell u in here,
The previous shape (mk3) beezer was made with a 90bhp 154ftlb torque during the course of the production (99-02) but they made a 110bhp 174ftlb for about 12 months but very few sold in the UK and they were right at the end of the mk3's run, so your looking at 2001-2002, many are 51 reg's, as people realised after that it was better to wait for the 130.
get a 130 and get it revo'd and youll always have a grin on your face, either from driving it or looking at the mpg meter!!

Hi Simon, welcome to the dark side...
Regarding importing: with the current exchange rate you won't save huge amounts, but importing does mean you can get goodies on the TDI 130 like Xenons, ESP, rain sensing wipers, auto dimming mirror, leather, sunroof, etc that aren't available from UK dealers.
You'll only get a 2-yr warranty, but the 3rd year you get in UK is limited to 60,000 miles so if you cover a high mileage like me this makes no difference.
I bought my TDI 130 from Wim, it was really easy - have a look in the Imports forum for more info. Email him at wim@pruys.nl (he speaks good english) and he'll send you a spreadsheet showing you the dutch model names, the bits you need to make it exact UK spec, the optional extras and all the prices.
Finally you should see a decent insurance saving, as the TDI 130 is only group 7 - a bit cheaper than the scoob I imagine!
