Last Wednesday, my TDI sport (in arctic grey) finally arrived.
I bought it from www.personalimport.co.uk
Cost about £12,800 (inc delivery) and came with xenon lights, auto dimming rear view mirror and rain sensor.
I must say, I am very happy with it. Not quite as good as my 96 Ibiza CLS I had, but what do you expect. :p
Anyhoo, might be looking for a few mods if anyones got any suggestions. Colour coded mirrors are a must, but I might pick up some of the chrome gear such as door pins and handbrake.
Shame though, it didn't come with the headlight adjustor, but I suppose thats because thay are xenons.

Very Nice. Hope you have many miles of pleasant motoring.

Xenon lights have to have auotmatic leveling as standard cos they are so bright!

Aha, someone else with Xenons !

Have you tried the headlight washers yet ? They're great for soaking cyclists/pedestrians etc :D

Have you got ESP ?

No ESP. To be honest I couldn't really afford the car, let alone many extras!
I can't wait till its broken in though so I can see its full power.

The improvement in mine was quite noticeable until at least 2-3000 miles; seems to have settled down now I'm on 5000-and-something miles.

Please explain mr m - d'you mean it got increasingly more powerful after 2-3000 miles? I'm on 600 miles and driving like a granny (after a few initial squirts of fun!) and having fun trying to get my average over 70mpg (managed 68.8 last night on my 42 miles from the station home). Am trying to follow the handbook and running in gently for 1st 1000km, then a little harder for next 500km...........then WHOOPPEEEEEEE :D

I followed the handbook guidelines (gently for 600miles, bit harder up to 900) and then started to put my foot down.

From then on, the performance seemed to increase gradually until about 2-3000 miles where it seemed to level off a bit. I think it has improved since then but not as noticeably.

By the way, it might be a good idea to check your headlight alignment, mine were quite a bit out. I tweaked them a bit so the horizontal bits of the beam seemed roughly equal in height when shone against a wall. (There's an adjuster just behind the headlight). I know it's not a very accurate way of doing it, but I've never been flashed - though I'm sure I would if I hadn't altered them as they are very bright.

Finally, I don't think I've ever broken 70mpg, I think I've got 68 like you though - when stuck in an irritating 40-50mph traffic convoy.

I just had a look through the handbook (thought it might be best) and the car came with Cruise control.. which was nice. Only took me 5 days to find it.
Do I win a prize?

I take it it's an import? I think some dealers abroad maybe don't realise it's not standard here - there 130's are v.low spec. More importantly did you get Access Plus on your front passenger seat? Mine did not have it and I'm still trying to get Wim (dealer in Holland) to do something about it! :(

Yep, it was an import. It didn't mention cruise control as part of the spec when I bought the car, so I think thats what confused me.
I don't have Access Plus, but that's because I got the 5 door. Girlfriends orders! I get the feeling she may want room for a little one

if your car had had the full rhd pack, which it has it shuold have access plus, what is Seat or Wim going to do, have you tried this through warranty? although I used to work for a ford dealer, and this sort of thing should be spotted on the PDI, win may have to pay.

Tell us how you are getting on.

I can't do it, drive like a granny, I'm ok but when i notice the oil has come up to temp, I tend to squeeze it a little bit, then a bit more, then more and before you know it I'm beeting kids off at the lights. I know it's childish but I still can't hel myself (3800 miles in and still enjoying it):D :D

Oops I've just finished running mine in and only wait for coolant temp to warm up as per handbook before booting it. Haven't really paid too much attention to what oil temp is (other than if it's too high).

Advice anybody? What oil temp do you wait for before pressing the loud pedal?

I think coolant & oil temp are generally very similar, so as long as the coolant's warm I'd have thought you'll be OK oil wise too...

I know what you mean, and when you have 172bhp and 286lb ft of torque then its even worse. I love it when i come across guys in there RS Escorts..Except the guy laast week who must have had atleast 200bhp in his

But the standard ones are easy, even mildly tuned onse are great cos there owners think they are the dogs danglies. Mind you they are usually up for an impromtue drag race and usually have a big smile even if they get trounced. Oh its like being 17 again with the Fiesta Supersport....I really should grow up..
