Hi all.

Recently fitted a cat-back Supersprint exhaust to my Mk3 Beezer Cupra. After being on the car for about half an hour, the management warning light pops up, wonderful!!

Took the car to have it's service, luckily the next day, and asked what the fault was. The service manager said the exhaust was throwing up a fault and reset the system.

On the drive home, management light back on. Got it reset again by the dealer, and the same fault came up. Long story short, surely you can change the std exhaust without all this hassle?!?!?!

Anyone had the same sort of trouble?????

Lambda sensor down the cat end maybe?

Not sure to be honest, didn't realise they had two. Where is it located??

just after the cat within a couple of inches. should have a wire coming out of it.

Actually come out of the cat or the pipework?

Hmmm, don't remember seeing it either way. Just unclamped the middle section and replaced with the Supersprint stuff - straight pipe and back-box.

Also, fitted an induction kit a while back, which obviously made the car run leaner and through up the management light again. Since reverted back to the std airbox. Does the car have to be mapped to run an induction kit in order to combat the leaning of the mixture?

what induction kit? some are too oilly & 'kill' MAF's

the lambda probe will bolt thru the pipe into the pipe, not the cat

I'm assuming the sensors in the short piece of pipe after the cat and just before the clamped middle section. Didn't un-do anything apart from the clamp, so assuming it's still there.

Piper X filter. How can i tell if the MAF's knackered?

yup, the pipercross was one that can be overoilled.... so it may be your MAF. not sure on teh fault codes. fairly sure a search might come up with a clue though

I have a jetex cat back and had no probs, and i have a pipercross which has been on for 6000 miles and i have had no ecu faults or maf failure.

looks like you're lucky then

FYI - having a 'better' filter won't make your system lean, that's controlled by the Lambda's

I am not completely convinced that pipercross filters are to blame for maf failures. How many Seats, Vw, skoda's, audi's, subaru's suffer from maf failures which are still running standard filters. Over oiling of filters by enthusiastic owners may be a reason. Just my opinion.
