Okay so I'm looking to buy an Ibiza Cupra which will be remapped to about 200bhp...

Problem I'm finding is getting insurance...

Im currently 20, but I will be 21 when I will hopefully own the car in a month.
Currently have 0 years NCB as was previously on another persons policy. Currently I'm driving a mk4 Ibiza FR and cheapest I could get was £1060 with admiral, no mods... I wont have a years NCB from this policy until August 09..

Any one have any ideas of who might insure me for under £1600?

Got a quote form greenlight for £997 but thats on the condition of having 1 years NCB, which i dont have...

Any suggestions much appreciated!

Adam

Will any of your parents be an additional driver?? ;)
That can bring the policy down quite a lot.

yes my dad will happily go as a named driver but I'm getting quotes way above £2000 still with him added... Wish greenlight would consider 21 year olds without the damn 1 years NCB...

anyone else with ideas?

limit your mileage, if you do less than 10000 make sure you say so.

To be honest mate, you'll probably struggle to find a quote less than £900. It's a quick car for someone your age with no NCB. I'm almost 24 and my premiums are starting to go down, less than £400 with 4 years NCB fully comp (i drive a tdi though). You just have to wait to insure the car you want cheaply, the thing is though, as you get older the novelty sort of wears off :D

haha your right, its the whole, i want it now or never scenario...

to be honest this will be a second car, for evenings and weekends only, so i have only stated that I will be doing 5000 miles a year which is all i will do...

Im pretty sure my current insurer will actually give me a quote for about £1400 which is admiral, but they're such a pain in the arse with mods.

Dont think I can wait a few years until its cheaper ha.

Cheers for your advise though!

If its a toy couldnt be both yours and your dads toy?

yes that is another option i've considered, but it probably wont make much different. Insurers arent daft these days, they see 21 year old, modifications and say NO NO NO lol.

I'll try getting a quote and see. It will be my dads toy also ;)
