Right guys it looks like I might be out of work again in a few months if things go the way they look. So I'm thinking about setting ICECavern up as a real business.
My question is...
I would NOT be able to match the prices of various mail order companies and I'd probably have to charge the rrp for everything. However people know me etc and they know what sort of service you'd expect from me...
SO...
Is it likely that anyone on here would consider buying from me? I'd be doing installation as well as long as it wasn't too far from the Berks area. Just trying to gauge interest...
Pete
As long as you can supply the right thing @ a price that I can afford, then I see no issue with that. I'm not over fussy on who I buy anything from as long as they're not arsey & offer genuine advice.
Mark
Trust you with my car sir?
Oh, alright then :)
I dunno, i'd certainly give it some thought when upgrading to mp3. Advice/service/care are important...

hahaha Well if there's a bit of a Leon I don't know how to remove it's probably oily :D
Pete
The places that give the cheapest prices quite often have poor after sales service (but not all!)
Even though paying a higher price for something may make you think twice you have to think about the installation aswell. The way something is installed has a lot to do with the way it finally sounds. You may have the best gear in the world but if badly installed will sound worse than cheap gear installed very well. I'm sure Pete will do his best.
Cheers Darryl
I'm not really too much into ICE anymore, but if I wanted something fitted I'd use you Pete and I'm 99% certain you wouldn't be any more expensive than places around here.
I wish you all the best if you decide to go ahead, I know it's a big decission to make.
id defo be interested in the way u removed ur dash to put the double din units in
I'd deffo buy from ya Pete, and I live on the other side of the Channel!
I would rather pay someone for some expert advice as opossed to the lowest absolute price.
Just an idea :
Custom made stuff for the Leon/toledo/ibiza (aka sub-box, kick panels)

Yeah the custom made stuff is a good idea. I should be making some boost gauge pods for the Leon dash soon... Might even sell some to a few A3 owners :D
Pete
I would be intrested in a boost gauge pod ! Pete:)
I had already planned to ask you to sort out an ICE instal for my next work bus (Bammer, Galaxy, Voyager, ???), so my reply is a yes.
I'd rather use someone who I can trust to do a pukka job at a sensible price rather than saving a few quid and having doubts about their integrity and skills.
One bit of advice I will give to you is that once you've set out your rates and prices to the general public, stick to them.
It is far better in the long-run to have a recommended client-base paying your set prices for top-class work, rather than a client base that knows they can bid you down, which demeans your skills, worth and credibility.
I do the same with my Cab Service. Today I had a guy trying to bid me £10 less than what I quoted him, saying other firms were £10 cheaper. (BTW I knew he was BS'ing)
I said to him "With all due respect, please use one of these other firms rather than try to bid me down and taking up my time on the phone, my price is my price"
I do not need/want to work cheap for these people, go away, eff off!
If you are good at what you do and give good service, the customer will want you as much as you wanting the customer.
Good luck with the venture.
