Anyone got the oettinger chip?

What's the differences between Oettinger, Revo, Jabba ?

I'm buying a Cupra from a Seat dealer and it's already got the Oettinger 260 mod on it (7 months old, 12k miles), comes with the Oettinger/RSD warranty.

Is it a good decision or should I just get a brand new one (for the same price)?

cheers

I have the Ottenger Chip in my Ibiza Cupra. It has the RSD 210 chip.

I bought mine from a dealer like it. However it may be worth going for the new one and getting it chipped by Revo or Jabba.

There are loads of posts relating to these guys, the price doesnt seem too bad either and there seem to be a lot of added extra like cruise control options and switchable mappings.

It really is up to you, I am very happy with mine though. :)

I presume you are referring to a Leon Cupra R as the Oettinger chip 'only' gives ~200bhp on an Ibiza.

I'm sure Bill will be on here soon to give his opinions of the Oettinger chip, RSD and their warantee! ;)

I advise that you do a search for Oettinger and RSD on here and get a feel for what people have been saying.

Cheers
Ben

My advice would be buy new and get Jabbasort to chip it for you. The RSD warantee I haven't heard any good reports from people trying to claim of it. My main reason for suggesting Jabba (before I get shot down) is that you are local as they are in Peterborough. However alot of people have REVO and are equally pleased with it. From personal experience Jabbasport are excellent and their customer service is one of the best I've ever experienced.

If Marshalls will give you a warrenty from them to cover the car and mods, it may be a reasonable thing, but otherwise I wouldn't bother. That particular car (if it's the yellow 52reg) has been for sale for over 6 mths now, so that may say something, especially when they are selling a few Rs.

Seeing as Jabbasport are just up the road from you, the other side of Peterborough, Crowland (www.jabbasport.com) you have one of the best 20VT engine tuners around on your doorstep.
Top quality work, bespoke mapping and local...

Sounds pretty good to me. :D
Give them a bell... They like Leon-R's a lot.... they map well and always give good results.

FYI tho, Tony is no longer with RSD. He got the elbow so I understand.
Danny and I had a long chat at Silverstone @ the VW Cup race and we are "fine" now. Danny's a top bloke unlike ...............

 Thanks guys

Nothing in it really, the Oettinger looks ok but I've decided to go with a new one (not had a brand new car before), and I'll get it chipped later when it feels too slow.

All I need to decide now is what colour?

...hmmm ok that was easy... it'll be Yellow :D

hope they don't take long to deliver.

yeah my gf said:

black is cool
yellow says here I am
red can look sporty
so get grey!

but when I said 'oh ok just for you I'll get grey' she screamed:

N O   N O T   G R E Y !!!    get yellow or black!

And my last car was black so I want a yellow one. She did like the 260 BHP it made her squeal, more than the tyres... :spin: and even tho she said yeah get the new one instead, I rekon she'll probably be asking me to chip it before long...

but a new yellow one it is.

hmmm... what about recaros?

Yeah, but I'm just comparing it to my celica which is not only in the garage being repaired yet again, it's also too slow.

I rekon the standard 210 will be 10x better than that was :D

I can check out some chips at my leisure now, and prolly get it done in a year or two.

Run it in for a few thousand miles, and then take it straight to Jabba. Honestly, you wont regret it. And they are almost right on your doorstep. So no excuse not to ;)

Just heard from the garage, my celica has thrown a piston and snapped a con rod or something... sounds bad whatever it is... and they said it might even need a new engine...

Wouldn't matter too much except I need it to part ex for the Cupra! and they said it'll be weeks now before I get it back.

The stupid thing is only 2 years old as well :(

What's the delivery time on Cupras now?

Hmmm, i wonder if that's the Yellow Leon R i got told about....

"chipped only an hour ago, just hit 160mph delivering it back to the dealer in Cambridge"

:D :D :D

Bill, did I just read that you and Danny are now "fine"!!!!!

Tony's off to start his own company then.

Think Danny and Trish are gonna try and get the RSD reputation back on track a little. :)

Go for Platinum grey - I took delivery of my Cupra in Platinum Grey last week - looks great. All colours are good but I think the Grey looks understated - it's definitely not dull and even unmodified goes like stink compared with my last car (Nissan Primera!! - Primera you say well I am a family man!!) :cloud9:

Congrats

No worries, I went for a new one. Still in Yellow and I should hopefully get it this weekend :D

Must admit I did like the 260 horses, but I'd decided I was going to get a new car this time, so even tho I was almost tempted I stuck with getting the new one.

I'll probably see you driving it round Cambridge, there can't be too many Yellow Cupra R's around here at the moment.

Did they give you any proof of this 260hp? Bearing in mind all the greif that was going on on here last year with 210hp conversions giving 189hp

I went in to test drive a an ordinary Cupra, tried the R and liked it, so I went for that instead.
Unfortunately since I wasn't originally going to buy just then (but the wife like yellow too much, and I liked the horses), I hadn't done my research.

Price seemed OK, I guess it's been a little thrashed but if it survives 2.5 years (and it doesn't lose me my license) it'll do.

I only got onto seatcupra.net after purchase. I haven't chased them up for the paperwork yet for the chip, but it certainly feels a bit more than a mates chipped 230 BHP cupra.

Every one seems to have heard of the 'hard to sell chipped marshall 'R''.

What upgrades are worth getting ?
Is it worth the changing the Oettinger since it seems to work fine ?
Are Jabbas induction kits or re-circ dump valves worth it ?

Loads of fun to drive.

:D

Every one seems to have heard of the 'hard to sell chipped marshall 'R''.When I drove it, it seemed fine, definately quick and didn't notice anything wrong with it.

The thing that put me off getting an ex demo was that I bought a Toyota Celica last year with 7.5k on the clock, and it's had two enginge rebuilds in the last 8 months. Luckily it is covered by warranty, but I figured if I'd get brand new this time so I know the full history.

There seem to be quite a few Leon Cupra owners arounds, I work with PeterS, he's just had his chipped. Have to about a get together.

Car goes a real treat. However...
Beware of the fly smears on the yellow in summer. For some reason the faster you drive the harder they are to remove.. :D

I work with PeterS

..and I need to wear my shades when I walk past your new R! The yellow does stand "out" :p (nice motor btw)

Peter

PS: btw - we might have a mini meet as mentioned down the bottom of this (http://www.seatcupra.net/forums/showthread.php?s=&threadid=19386) thread.
PPS: who hijacked my thread?;)

Yeah, I'd be up for a meet, wait till I get the car first tho!

Should be veeery soon. I get the Celica back this Saturday, then take it straight down to Marshalls to make sure they'll give me enough in part ex...

...then I get the R! :dance2: :dance1:
