I feel that in a effort to improve awareness (and hopefully attendance) of Seatcupra.net events, there should be a prominent section either here on the forums or on the main site, or both, that details upcoming events. Perhaps a calendar style presentation would be helpful, or a date ordered list like over on uk-mkivs.
The purpose would be to make people aware of all upcoming events so that they don't have to trawl through thread after thread just to find out if something is still on or not..

What's required is a list of events with a simple bit of info, like - 'More people needed' , 'Event now cancelled' , 'Event full' , 'See this thread for more info' etc etc

Awareness of events is really a problem for a lot of people i know and a central organised list would be really helpful. Of all the events i've been to over the last 6 months or so, i've only found out about most of them at the last minute.

Hopefully this could include other VAG eg CGTI, PVW, meets as well as major events like Trax, motorshows, Seatcupra championship events and any others people think are relevant.

I'm no web developer so someone else would have to write it, but i'd be more than happy to help/design and keep it updated.
Let me know what you all think of this idea and perhaps it will get the go-ahead from the powers that be..

There's a calender link in the menu system but nobody uses it. As far as I can see you can add events in to there yourself.

Yeah, but it's too messy, full of birthdays we need something more consise.

It wouldn't be hard to remove all the birthday data. But then who would update this? Who's to say what should and should not be in it?

I don't think it would get cluttered.

PS - Just entered TRAX 2003 into it and the font is black on a dark-blue background. Needs a tweak.

Sounds like two calendars needed.

As I said in the original post, i don't mind updating it, it wouldn't be a very big job, anything relevant would go on it.
But removing all the birthday dates isn't the point. As a said, I think we need something more accessible, more prominent

So there's nothing wrong with the calender format apart form some font and colour - it's just hidden away too much for your liking. How would you bring it to attention? Give it a section amongst the forums perhaps? Would it be hard to code in some email reminders that 'spam' all member email addys at say 3 months, 1 month and 1 week intervals before events?

perhaps a separate events calendar would suffice, so long as items could be links to info or threads.
Spamming everyone when there's an event coming up is a bad idea. Perhaps you could 'subscibe' to the mailing list, if you wanted to receive this info.

not exactly what your looking for but the design/layout of the new site includes a little space for forthcoming events. Only a couple of lines though. just enough room to put date and venue, although there is nothing stopping that being linked to the relevant news item or thread.

I'll check with martyn and find out if that has/will make the final version

maybe if people left threads for this type of thing, for the intended purpose it would be less clogged.they seem to get hijacked for all sorts of crap maybe a sticky in the thread" just post your intention to come".
all queries mail organiser, that sort of thing
