I am really not up in this whole car audio thing so I was wondering if somebody could explain in simple terms to me how I would go about setting up a sub & amp in my 55plate mk4 Ibiza. I am using a Kenwood 237SA Headunit that has no pre outs. I am kinna wanting the front and rear speakers and the sub running all at once.
Please tell me what cable I need to buy and how to connect it all up.
Thank you

Hi mate.

All you need is one of these. Simple really.
The quality is not exactly RCA output equivalent, BUT it's a good solution.

THis one has an input sensitivity controll which can be helpful.

Hope that helps :)

zipcode i was told some years back that running an amp off a speaker out put was potentially damaging to the hu... have you heard this? assuming it was all a load of **** and theyre not going to burn out the amp in the HU will this work just as well on a standard aura leon head unit? i take it i would need an amp that would the lost speakers aswell or is it bypassable?

problem is with line ouput is they are sent already amplified to power the speakers wherea pre-outs are lower output and cleaner signals

converting them used to be a bit iffy as you were effectively amping a signal then filtering it down then back up again after so quality used to be a bit crap to be honest

most modern day converters have adjustments that help so doable / not ideal but convenient for sure

if you are using it for just a sub addon and filter/adjust the frequencies to suit i would imagine it wouldn't be too bad at the end of it
