View Full Version : Waiting for delivery
Hi All - I'm new to this but have been lurking for a while.
We ordered a New MK5 Ibiza on Sept 1st, and so far have not received or been given a delivery date, a couple of weeks ago they said it'd be end of Sept/Beginning of Oct. Then last week we phoned again and they said there's still no news.
How long do you think I am going to wait for?

How long you have to wait depends on how many extras you opted for really. If it was standard though it should only be a few weeks, if that. Daniel on here recently got his after waiting a couple of weeks.
We ordered ours at the beginning of september but have to wait until end nov or beg. dec for ours! Count yourself lucky mate! :p
The factory are often on a partial shutdown during August/Sept, this is so the workers can have holidays and it also reduces production. It's necessary to reduce production so they are not making more cars than they can sell.
Production should ramp up a little now, however they have already issued a warning that they want to cut the working hours to reduce production costs.
It's the state of play with nearly all major car manufacturers at the moment. If they have stock of a particular model the wait is obviously reduced. But if you have specified a build to order then it's in the hands of the factory and the production schedule.
They wait until they get a reasonable amount of orders of a particular model then do them all at the same time, rather than just change production schedules for 1 or 2 special orders.
My cousin for example has just bought an Ibiza SC 1.416v in Black, dealer had it in stock with the options she wanted. She took delivery 7 days later. However if she'd ordered a factory order, it would of been a much longer wait.

So does that mean that because we have ordered a 1.4 5dr sport in black with all optional extras its going to take forever as not many people will go for that particular model? I certainly hope not! :(
No it's more model specific really and order volumes. They will build a load of 5 doors together regardless of the particular options. Their may however be more orders for Leon's than 5 door Ibiza's at present. So more production resources will be dedicated to those, then they switch production back to focus on building more Ibiza's and so on.
I would expect that the delays to production is the usual late summer shutdown more than anything.

Thanks for the info mate!
I didn't ask for any spec ups but as an introductory offer the Garage (Lookers) were including Bluetooth and iPod connection amongst other bits and bobs, so maybe its that that's causing the delay?

I work as a sales exec for a seat main dealer. we cant get hold of any 5DR ibiza's untill december now. The demand has been huge.
The sport coupe has a limited availability aswell, however there are aload of SE and sports available but only in certain colours (white, Red, black, Silver and citrus) and with the same options. These are available for immediate delivery but there is limited stock.
The cars will become more readily available once they have been out longer.

I'd bell them again mate. I was given an update yesterday and told it'll be starting build in week 43 (we are currently in week 40) and delivered 3 weeks after that. You should be told that much AT LEAST!
so that's at least another 3 weeks. kinell.

We are having the same problems with Ibiza and SC at the moment - Avaliability is scarce to say the least, We only have one SC 1.4se and 3 5 door 1.2s left in stock, there are a couple in free stock but we found the biggest problem being bog standard cars.
Give the dealer a call and he will be able to tell you when the build slot is and add 3-4weeks to that.

We have found that custom builds had been put back a few weeks and standard cars have been pushed forwards
Just to give you an update...
I phoned Lookers today and they said they were looking into the new car sales as I spoke and that they'd ring tomorrow with an update, I'll let you know when I know.
:)
Just spoke to my dealer after 3 days of waiting for a response.
They say it will now be "towards the end of the month". Also they will let me know if that is actually the case tomorrow.
They thought the vehicle was in the country but it appears that it isn't.
Have you heard anything definite. Been waiting since middle of July and now being told end of November. Are they having a laff? (I'm not laughing:cry:)

What exactly did you order Fiona and did you have any optional extras on top?
Hi there! Ordered 1.6 Sport in Yellow with rear tinted windows and 17" alloys. Ordered mid July and were told delivery September, then told car would go into production beg of October. Were told last week would be end of October but then received call on Friday to say that Seat had recalled yellow models due to paint fault.
Can only trust what they say but am losing patience now[:@]

I paid £ 9701 on the road price including metallic and mats and flaps thrown in, i thought this was a pretty good deal, as i had rang ten other dealers and they couldnt get anywhere near.

How much cheaper could you have done it, also i did send a request to Seat to find me there cheapest supplier and no one got back to me. The ten other Seat garages couldnt get anywhere near what i paid so it must be a competitive price or they would of matched it or beat it, which none of them could. I am happy, i just hope Seat is more reliable than VW to which i have had three new ones and have nothing but problems with them.

Hi Again,
My deal was from Autoworld Seat in Chesterfield, i went to Stoneacre in Doncaster as they had a luna Grey one too look at, the salesman didnt believe me when i told him the deal that Autoworld had offered me.
Update from me...
I spoke to the dealer last week and he said
"You're after a red Ibiza aren't you?"
"Yes" says I.
"What about a white one?"
"Yeah that'd do"
"Or even a silver one"
"Whatever."
"Right I'll speak to the factory and sort something out. I'll ring you back in the morning."
next morning.... no phone call. I phoned him.
"Hi - can I have my white/silver Ibiza yet?"
"Is there any colours you don't want?"
"Yellow"
"Right, leave it with me."
next day...
"You'll definitely have it for the end of the month"
today...
"Can't get through to the ****er."

That is ridiculous.
You say you've 'ordered' your car on the 1st of september. Have they given you a date of build or anything yet? We ordered ours on 6th September and had a call 2 weeks ago to say that it'll be built in week 43 (next week) and will take 3 weeks to build. So, going by the particular dealers' standards (no offence to anyone on here) that means we should get it just in time for xmas. I doubt VERY much it'll be ready to pick up in week 46 because i dont trust them as far as i can lob 'em.
My girl is already doing her nut and will be fuming if its not here when we're told.
Dealers,
Can you please tell us why we're always given a load of bull and not told the truth like:
"To be honest you're looking at about 4 months". Then if its before its always a bonus. It never is though.
They've just phoned me.
I am having my red ibiza. He's got a transporter coming today. He is going to ring me and tell me if it's on it. He's also thrown bluetooth in.

When you say "He is going to ring me and tell me if it's on it", thats a bit worrying that the dealer's dont know what is supposed to be arriving. Dont they have a computer telling them what they're expecting and when? For all he knows it could turn up with a thousand furbys on board!

I ordered the 1.4 sc 3 dr in Luna Grey, the only extras i had were the power folding mirrors, i got it for £9701 on the road with mats and flaps thrown in, i rang lots of Seat garages and know one could match it. i dont like the sound of turning the radio up to drown the rattles out, but i suppose nothing is perfect. I have had three brand new volkswagens and had nothing but problems with all of them, so a change wont hurt. I have been told that the car will be with me in the middle of December, i ordered it on the 18th October. do you think the new vw 1.4 tsi engine will be in it next year?

mine is the sport model, i thought price was brill. i bought it from autoworld in chesterfield, they only had the black, red and citrus one to look at, so i had to go to stratstone seat in doncaster to see a luna Grey one in the showroom, the salesman more or less said i couldnt get it for the price autoworld were quoting, but i obviously know different. Is the radio easy to tune and has it got a good sound.

29-10-2008, 15:42
To be honest I haven’t tuned my radio, it came fully pre-tuned with local radio station and main radio stations like radio 1 etc… but I think it is easy to tune, as you can scroll through channels with the stalk and then I think you just confirm once you have the right one.
Also I very rarely listen to the radio (except on my lunch) I connect my ipod to the stereo through the AUX in port. The sound is great, once you fiddle about inside the sound options i.e.bass, treble. You can tune it to your taste

Where are the pics man? We're waiting with anticipation!
Sorry folks, been at a wedding darn sarf for the weekend in the car.
It is fantastic. I am so pleased with it. I have got the Bluetooth kit with it and we (me, the missus and 2 kids) had a right laugh on the way down trying to program numbers into it. I also wasn't aware that it has cruise control.
Before reading the following comments, you need to bear in mind that I've had a hyundai accent for the last 4 years...
The handling is really good, and gives you confidence to throw it into a corner and not think that you're going to understeer.
Also its more pokey than I thought - pick up speed is quite surprising, when I test drove it, it was quite disappointing and then when I read Richard Hammond's review in the mirror i was even more wary. But having had it for nearly a week and actually driving it I'm more than satisfied.
on the whole very very impressed. I will get round to doing some pics but at the mo I'm in work.

Been told our car is on its way over now. Its on the boat but it will be a MINIMUM of 2 weeks once it hits dry land here in the UK. This is due to a lot of drivers they've gotten rid of and wont deliver a car unless they've got a full lorry load of them.
Thats stupid.

We were failed to be told that we need an ADDITIONAL adapto/cable which costs a further £63.62 and can only be bought from SEAT. We've just found this out ourselves. We're having to a standard 3.5mm to 3.5mm jack using the auxilary port atm. I will be having words tomorrow...
Also, for those who have ordered the TomTom cradle make sure they throw in the adaptor for that too. Ours didnt have it in and when trying to mate it with the TomTom one v3 there was no way it would fit. This, we were told afterwards would be an extra £25. We refused payment and they decided to chuck it in for nothing. Too right they should!!!
Bare this in mind if you ordered that feature.
Apart from that, we've had loads of fun playing with the speech recognition on the bluetooth side. The car is fantasticly smooth, quiet and very agile to drive. The steering is sublime and the xenons are to die for!
I've taken some pictures as a teaser and will be putting them up tomorrow. In the meantime im going to try and get some better ones with more detail.

Hi,
looks very nice, mine should be here in a couple of weeks, they have stooped making that dashboard know, apparently it was only the first 500 with that one, all the others will be all black.

The cream/white dash is only available with the 'sports pack' mate. Hence why mine has one.
Just i just point something very important out please folks...READ CAREFULLY if you have ordered the iPod/USB connection.
The iPod will NOT work when plugged into the optional connection fitted. It will need an additional cable that can only be bought from Seat themselves and will set you back a further £63.62. We found out the hard way about this. So, my fiancee kicked up a storm and told them that it does NOT mention this in the catalogue nor were we told about it. Since then they have decided to order the cable for us and supply it free of charge. It has actually gone to Head Office now and Seat may have to re-write the extras list with this mentioned.
Please do tell them as soon as possible if you have ordered the iPod/USB connection. You should not have to pay extra for the needed cable.
We tried both the standard iPod 80GB video and an iPod Touch with 3 different cables to be sure.

Hi.
My local Seat dealer said they are now stopping any with the cream/black dash as Seat realised it had made a mistake and the cream marks very easily. I sat in a SE model in the showroom and that had a cream/black dash.

Hmm. I thought it was part of the sport pack and was labeled as the 'aternative dash'. Oh well

Hi,
Cant wait for mine, should be here for xmas, hows your headlights and i wonder if they will be all the same.
I called my dealer today and he had some very good news. He said that my car will be delivered about 2 weeks ahead of schedule. So it seems that delivery time is now about 2 months. I ordered mine 8.11.2008 and dealer said that I could have my car somewhere in the middle of January.
I picked up mine today, 2,5 weeks before original estimated time. Now I just have to learn how to drive it. :D
Congrats. Show some pics:)
