Can someone find out how much it is for a replacement airbox for an Ibiza 20VT.

I only need the lower section of the 2. A price and part number would be great!

Can you also check availability for me as I would like to get my hands on one quickly.

Thanks very much.

Chris.:)

Let me guess - you drilled holes in it and it screwed things up?

lol

No................ drilled holes in it and it is working very nicely in deed (especially with the new Jetex filter).

Another air box is wanted so I can do a "nicer and more professional looking" job.:) (as long as I don't have to remortgage the house to afford one!!!)

I may also run a cold air feed directly into the box - the new air box will allow me to use the old one as a "doner" to try different variations.

You've intrigued me now:
Jetex is cotton gauze isn't it? Did you have to de-oil it? No probs with the MAF sensor then?
And what does it sound like (presumably the element itself and the holes add a bit of nice induction roar)?

Was thinking of dropping in a Jetex or K&N element myself, possibly washing it first - wondered what difference the element alone would make to noise/running - I really don't want to butcher my airbox personally.

Yes it's cotton gauze.

It came pre oiled. I simply washed the entire filter getting rid of all traces of oil and then lightly re-oiled it myself.

I have had the filter installed for about a month now and have not had any issues to date. The difference in noise is very impressive but that is most likely due to the "modified" airbox.

I'm also a bit weary about how long the filter will perform for as it is only very lightly olied...........only time will tell.................needless to say I check it regularly!

Just been reading on the vwvortex forums and alot of the guys with the 1.8T Golfs are running with no MAF sensor at all.

I know what your saying about butchering the airbox.............enough to bring tears to your eyes!!!

airbox comes as a whole assy (incl new air filter LOL) @ £53.99 inc vat

part number is 6K0-129-607-AK

interestingly there is a slightly cheaper version for the same engine BUT listed as ESP ie spain only , mmmm i wonder , higher dust filtration maybe ?

could even be for Electronic Stability Program , hence more junk under bonnet = smaller airbox
