Hi There,
Is fitting a turbo timer a good idea? Heard that they are illegal too?

The 20VT has an auxiliary water pump which runs for several minutes after the motor is switched off, thus pumping water through the turbo housing. You should be able to hear this quite easily. In my opinion they are not required, can't comment on the legality of them but never heard of them being illegal. ?!?

I don't believe having a turbo timer is illegal, but leaving a car unattended with the engine running is (so unless you sit in the car with the engine running (if on a public highway) I guess you could get "done").
TTs can also affect any alarm / immobiliser system fitted to your car - could lose your Thatcham CAT 1 status and thus void your insurance.
