Has anybody had experience of installing an Mstation MP3 juke box in a Leon. I am looking to buy one and am considering best mounting position for the box and the wired remote.
Will I be able to connect it straight into the back of my Aura stereo? What power connectors are required?
Any help would be appreciated.

I've never used one but they plug into the ariel on the back of the stereo so it plugs straight in. I'm guessing it just needs power, ground and ignition wires to get it wired up. If you don't have a changer in the glovebox then why not put it in there?

I understood that if an adaptor could be sourced I could plug it in to the back of the head unit via the socket for the changer.
This is supposed to give far better sound quality over the FM Modulator route.
Does anybody know if such an adaptor is available?
There are numerous adaptors available for convering CD Changers to factory stereo's.
I think Autoleads would be somewhere to start though im not sure they may produce the adaptor you need, but they are the best place to start.

You could always make one. If you can get the changer cable from a dealer and the wiring diagram you might be able to do it. The only problem would be telling the HU that there is a "changer" connected.
But Autoleads might be easier..

Or, you could go the whole hog and get an Alpine CDA-7878R head unit which'll play MP3's copied onto a CD!!!
if the old clarion way of fitting a cd changer to a non cd radio is similar (ie through the aerial) the quality is a bit dodgy , basically radio quality etc , you be better off having one of the latest MP3 compatible headunits and use a spacer kit ???
! ! FM modulator ! ! that was it (PANTS)

I was considering an MP3 CD headunit, but the Mstation is hard drive based with a 10GB disk (upgradeable to 60, 80GB etc) which would store in excess of 120 albums.
What cabling (if any) is at the back of the glove box behind the space for the cd-changer?
If I did go the MP3 head unit route, would I lose the on-dash display? Also are there any manufacturers that make head units with Seat style red displays?
Don't know of any way of fitting a 3rd party head unit and keeping the on-dash display as the display is directly driven from the electronics in the Aura radio.
The only cabling behind the glovebox is for the Seat CD-Changer, there is a multi-pin connector that runs from there to the back of the Aura radio. The tray in the glovebox is easy to remove, pull off the trim piece and undo the two screws and you will then be able to see what room you have and what you will be able to do.

Ok this is from this months Total Car Audio mag relating to a similar problem wit a VW Gamma unit....
They stated that a company called SOUNDLINX supply a £65 adaptor that "fools the head unit into thinking that it has a changer connected to it and gives you the two phono plug connections needed to integrate the mStation". They list the phone number for Soundlinx as 01827 69069.
It's on page 93 of the Dec01/Jan02 edition with the red EVO on the front.
Hope this helps.
