I just had the bonnet resprayed for leon the colour is metallic black wanted to know how i should go about cleaning it and keeping it mint basically? the car was washed after having it for a day, going through normal steps rince, shampoo, rince, dry and wax (liquid) The car was shining as normal but with the bonnet i did notice some swirl marks I guess the liquid wax was a bad idea?
---
Can you recommend me a product that will go well with the black colour (metallic) The products am currently using is autoglym shampoo/aqua wax. I only noticed this thread yesterday since joining  but i saw the different waxes on the website did not know which one I should be going for.

Thanks.
only using aqua wax, finding it easy to use does not leave a residue on the car and it smells nice lol

Thanks.

to keep it mint condition dont wash your car with a sponge. check out the guides are polishedbliss.

swirl marks are hard to get out without using a porta cable or other electric polisher.

ideally you should give the bonnet 4-6 weeks for the paint to fully cure, even if it has been oven baked.

after that if it has been machined polished it may have dropped as the solvents come out, simply re buff, then you just wax it as per normal

How long ago was the bonnet resprayed? If it's only just been done you want leave a few weeks before waxing really to give the paint some time to breath and finish curing.

I reckon the reason you are seeing the swirls more in the bonnet than the rest of the car is because the body shop will have given it a machine polish, but not finished it down. As long as its shiny they are normally happy. They may even have used a filler rich glaze that was washed out or removed by your liquid wax.

Now a wax isn't going to sort the swirls, it may mask them very slightly, but the only way really to sort them is going to have it machine polished properly. If that's not an option then a couple of products that will help mask the swirls are Bilt-Hamber Auto-balm (http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/shop/viewproduct.php?product_id=88) or Mark V Dazzle (http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/shop/viewproduct.php?product_id=108). The Auto-balm you would use on it's own, the Dazzle could/should be topped with a wax.

Now to answer the question what wax for your car, if you are thinking of one of the colour specific Dodo waxes, then Purple Haze (http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/shop/viewproduct.php?product_id=2) would be a good choice, however Juiced Editon (http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/shop/viewproduct.php?product_id=46) also looks good on black and if you feel like going higher Supernatural (http://www.carnaubawaxshop.co.uk/shop/viewproduct.php?product_id=98) will look very nice.

Hope that helps. :)
