View Full Version : Dual Voice Coil Subs
Hi all. Want to get a 12" sub for the ibiza cupra I am picking up tomorrow. I used to have a JL Audio 12W0 sub and really liked it. I am now thinking I might get a 12W3. This thing is how do you wire dual voice coils. There are 2 2ohm voice coils. What will be the rating (ohms) when I wire these in either parallel or serial. Anyone got any experience of the 12W3. Any better subs out there for around £150? Thanks

2 2ohm subs wired in series will give you 4ohms total
In parallel will give you 1 ohm (1/RT=1/R1+1/R2)
In recently bought an Infinity Kappa 12" for about £120ish and although its single voice coil it sounds way better than previous dual voice coil subs i've had. Quality not quantity when it comes to voice coils, IMO anyway

Thanks for the replies. That answered my question.
