Graham.
I called today and left a message...
I received yesterday a service recall for my Ibiza from Seat UK for Fuel Lines.
What is this? Is this a long job? or could it be done on the 22nd when I have the oil/filter change done?
Could you let me know, by email or phone etc..
Cheers
Bill
Just a quick check Bill.
No problem for the 22nd.

Hi Graham. I haven't had the recall, dunno if the 2000 model needs it? If it does can you include it in the service on the 21st?
I'm going to have to hold off on the 6x9's....financially embarrassed! :(
Cheers

With reference to recalls.
if a car has a recall then only the affaected customers are contacted and this is done directly by the manufacturer as it is monitored by the DOT.
So if you do not recieve a letter then please don't worry.

Whats the recall all about then ? I dont trust Seat UK to get something as serious as a recall right, they will probably loose half of the ltters that should go out, and I dont really want to be driving around in a car the might have faulty fuel lines.

All it says on my letter is Check Fuel Lines.
I know "Nothing"...
Bill
Swinny,
Why would Bill get a recall notice and not me?
We both bought identical cars from your garage less than one month apart so I would of thought that they would of been identical!
Thanks

Maybe a silly question, but you did send your registration details to SEAT when you got the car?
It might just be chassis # related I suppose.... The check turned out to be checking if a fuel line is one side of a brake pipe or other. Mine was OK as it turned out. Just had me 1st oil change done...at 5400miles. (better safe than sorry - new engine - turbo - and me driving it :D )
regards
Bill
the recall is to replace the fuel lines on approx 2386 IBIZA's and 982 INCA van's all of which are 2001 chassis model and were built in a specific 2 week period according to the chassis number list , if you are worried i will post up the range list soon , but to be honest apparently VERY few of them are RHD UK cars , only 1 so far was bill's
OK thanks.
I should be booking my car in for a boost guage and an oil change on 18th Jan, so I'm sure it wont take a minute for them to have a look at the fuel line too, just to make sure.
Cheers,
Ben

Do UK RHD Ibizas have the chassis number visible through the windscreen?
I would'nt be surprised if mine was part built LHD at some point as the passenger grab handle was on the drivers side and I do not have a visible chassis number through the windscreen. I remember RSD commenting on that when it was first chipped.

Hi Flapper
No one has heard of a fuel line recall in Israel!
Here is my chassis no. Can you check for me to see if my car is on the list?

Don't mean to be funny Bill but are you sure its not a import?
I say this as I see many imports at my work (mostly TT's) and they don't have visable Chassis No.'s either!

Erm...
Gulp!
Erm...
How could you tell?
Supplied new to me by Amethyst and not sold as an Import.
It seemed odd that the grab handle was on the drivers side... Altered by Amethyst to the passenger side (so my wife can grab hold of it when I go round corners :D :D)
Flapper>> Do chassis numbers relate to imports?
Wotcha think? Could it be? Seems odd to me.
Got me wondering now.....
Bill
Well, define an import...
All Ibizas are made abroad and imported (As you know). Usually a car referred to as an import is one that has been brought into the UK unofficially (ie. not by Seat.)....
So, Amethyst must get all their Ibizas from abroad (Directly from the factory or indirectly via Seat UK HQ), as do all dealers.

I wonder if its a RHD vs LHD type thing...
Mines a bit of both perhaps...
Might explain my driving at times... :D :D er ehm.. Officer!
The grab handle being on the wrong side made me wonder if my car was supposed to be LHD at some point during its build, especially when the VIN number could'nt be seen by RSD when they first chipped it.
what do you think Flapper?
Bill
Hi Bill.
I think manwell had had to much sangria when he fitted your grab handle - see my reply in your other topic "how to tell if an import"
Cheers
