I need some help, 2weeks ago out of the blue on the way to work my car went into limp mode.I promptly took my car to my dealership who couldnt find any problems when using vag-com.The staff at the dealership seemed to think it was the MAF sensor that had broken so they ordered me a new on which took 5 days.In th mean-time i had to drive around in a car that was knackered and wouldnt rev beyond 4000rpm:mad:
5 Days past the MAF sensor arrived and they fitted it for me i was relieved to have my car fixed until I drove it home only to find that the car would now only rev to 5000rpm at which point it felt as if someone was applying the brakes.
I booked my car into another dealership to see if they could rectify the problem. I returned to pick my car up after leaving it over-night so they could start it from cold to see if they could identify the problem.Just got back from picking the car up, bit more annoyed after being told that my forge dv is not working and is the root cause of all my problems??. I need to know how to service the forge dv to see if it is broken , i carnt keep running my car performing like this any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated

Cheers blkcupra:cheers:

visit the forge website-there is a pdf download on there how too maintain and service a forge dv.

This is very easy to do and there is only a few parts to it.

I think its possibly one of the gasget O rings that has come loose or something fouling the movement.

do you have the standard air box on it??

Hav you had it off atall? (or have they?)

I ask this as I swapped off a dynatwist filter on saturday and put the std box back on.... the car then had the same simptoms youve said...
the problem was that i hadnt managed to get the air feed tube back into the foam hole in the wing and the intake was 3/4 blocked.

I initially though MAF and the airflow readings wernt good... then it dawned on me. took the box off and routed the pipe correctly and all if fine again.

If the dealer has replaced the maf they may have moved the pipe into a slightly better possition but it may still not be right. hence the problem still occure but not till higher up the revs...

just a though :)

Easy check for the DV...
Remove it from the car, and suck on the small end pipe connection. The piston (assume a piston DV here) should move up and stay up whilst you are sucking. When you release the suction the piston should return smoothly.

If you suck on the pipe (applying the vacuum signal) and the piston either does'nt rise smoothly or returns whilst vacuum is still applied, then Forge can provide the service parts (o-rings & lube). They have a lifetime warranty.

Hope this helps
