View Full Version : How do you get a 1.4 Beezer to go faster ?

Right then everyone, i need some real good ideas.

Ive sorted the bodywork on my 1.4 Beezer and i am now looking for ways to get the little"monster" a bit more grunt. At the moment the engine is COMPLETELY standard, changed the exhaust (Thanks to Ascar in Sheffield, top job!) and thats it!!

Any ideas ??

Jetex (JR) Induction kit.

Piper Cam

AmD chip

and that's about it.

The Induction kit sounds nice. - the cam is a ******* of a job - but the chip makes a difference.

And still i shall be more sideways....

no seriously - the 1.4 is not a fast car - but you can have more fun pushing it to its limits.

I'm from Viking stock you see. We sweep down from the North, taking all before us (except if NUFC are playing in London...).

lol@Bazzer.......yeah I heard that they give free entry 0 - 120 years old and a few Sunderland fans to make up the numbers!

Toonman.........Southerners yeah dont ya hate them, me being from Leeds an all that ....lol:rolleyes:

Yeah I heard that the last time that Newcastle won down South was when the Vikings Invaded and there was only one footie Team.....Accrington Stanley!

We beat Ipswich Town last week at their place, but I guess they don't count anymore:devil: Obviously, we're underachieving again this Season; 3rd in the PL is poor by our standards...

So, Si don't you miss Leeds? We shop there now and again; nice place.

I have to admit though that Bobby Robson is one of the better things to have happened to Newcastle in recent years!

Do I miss Leeds.........NOPE......I left in 1989 to join the Army and have gone back a couple of times but the missus is from London and I left the Army this year and so it seemed the most natural thing to do was to live here!

I know that Leeds is booming though cos I recently went onto freindsreunited.com and have caught up with loads of peeps from school and weird thing is that half of them are in London now?

I will always be a NORTHERNER no doubts about that!

We can only dream at what might've been had Kenny the Dour Scot and Ruud the Dud not arrived. Bobby's been a breath of fresh air. I'm looking forward to seeing how far we'll go with Al as manager though.

Your team's come a long way too - almost back to the level of the 70's. God, I hated Leeds when I was a kid. Dragged kicking and screaming to North Yorkshire as a 9 year old, I was dumped into a school full of Leeds Utd fans who thought I was Scottish(!) and couldn't understand why anyone would NOT want to support their team. Oh yeah, the odd one supported Boro. Notice I said, "odd" one...

Yeah Leeds are finally moving in the right direction after years of non achieving....sad thing is though so are everybody else now.....look at Liverpool last season and this season, but we have got a squad with depth now so It all looks good and you never know we might win the UEFA cup this year!

Ive got a 1.4 Ibiza, as far as engine mods go ive got the induction kit, exhaust system (soon to be cat free) , Piper Cam and a few other bits and pieces...

I wouldnt recommend the Cam on its own as i have noticed hardly any difference in performance since having it fitted. Hence at the moment im sorting out getting the head polished and ported then getting it chipped...

Only problem is im thinking of getting rid of my car mid next year which means im trying not to spend too much on it.. and if i get it chipped that will be another couple of hundered quid... Im trying to up the fuel pressure first as i think that is whats holding the cam back so ill see how that goes first.

Ill let you know how it goes.

Sell it and buy a 2.0 8V Cupra. The insurance could well be cheaper than pissing about with a 1.4.

and a lot less hassle probably... Look at all the Max Power Nova/Fiesta/Corsa types; spent tens of thousands getting their cars to pull 60 in under 6 secs and then find them as reliable as a chocolate fireguard. Along comes a Scooby and pulls 60 in just over 5 secs, again and again and again...

Or a saturn 5 rocket, nasa only wants a couple of billion dollars:hammer:

There is some truth about the sidewinder missile bit, about 5 - 10 years ago this guy in america bought an ex army surpless missle and strapped it to the roof of his chevy nova or something and found the longest bit of road he could find and light the blue touch paper.
And of course this thing went like a bat out of hell where he discovered he couldnt shut it off since the rocket motor of the missel was a solid fuel type meaning there was no going back.

this chevy nova was found by the local police inpaled into a side of a canyon like an accordian. an investigator estimated that this nova was only in contact with the road about 15% of a 2 half mile journey berfore slamming into the wall

Yup.. Heard that one..

He apparently managed to break the sound barrier due to the fact he was so low to the ground (sounds barrier is lower near ground like init).

can't ya just guarantee though that the guy was trying to steer the car while he was flying through the air.. or had his foot on the brakes.. lol

Clearly NOT a contender for the nobel prize.. hehe

Yeah, Richard Noble and Andy Green(Thrust ssc) should of tried that one and would of been cheaper and would'nt of had to sell the car off to the yanks who we beat to pay off the debt they had.
