Hello
i have been down to 2 of my local SEAT Garages today in Barnsley & Huddersfield, and i have fallen in love with the new ibiza!
to the point where i dont think im going to get a MK4 isiza now and get a new new one!
although i was really dissapointed to hear that there was only a 1.4 diesel and no 1.9 or anything relativly powerful.
speaking to the dealers they recon that in March / April next year tthey will bring out a 1.9 TDI, does anyone know any more details about this.. i,e what the Power on them is going to be or if there will be an option for leather interior??
I'm hoping that they will do a decent 1.9 TDI with 130 BHP or something, not like the 1.9 TDI leon thats only 105 bhp.
so looks like i might now be waiting till next year any buying a brand new car ( even though i swore i'd never do that again!!) haha

Think they'll come out in 3 types;
The 1.9TDI 100bhp Sport, a 19.TDI 130bhp FR and a 1.9TDI 160bhp Cupra. Probably looking around £15k or £16k for the latter.
no diesel cupra and doubt it will cost 15 to 16k as you might aswell get a Leon FR then. Recko it will start at 14k.

Theres talk of new 1.6 CR TDi diesels next year. 85-105-135bhp versions. The 135 would be the 1 to go for in the FR

what is the difference between the FR & the cupra? which is the better model version?

cupra kicks arse, fr's are more warm hatch although often have the power of a hothatch.

to be honest if i go ahead and buy one i'd probably have most of the extras - although not bothered about a panaromic windscreen and extra airbags, but as for all the other bits i'd have em. as i would intend on keepignt his car for at least 5 years so might as well get everything i want in it, to save me moaning at a later date that it doesnt have 'this and that'

Arn't they only like 90bhp, rather a down grade, plus the inside isn't like the new ibiza inside, rather plasticy and they really ££££

I've got the MK4 160 TDI at the moment and am desperately waiting for the post on here 'MK5 Cupra diesel announced' - but fear it won't come! How can SEAT do that? Surely the TDI sold just as well, if not better, than the petrol on the Mk4??
I had a VW Bora 1.9 TDI 105 last though before the Ibiza and found it to be a fantastic engine - not all that slow either. I'd be quite tempted in a white SC, black wheels, Cupra body kit, with that engine.

at the moment you can only get 1.2 70PS, 1.4 85PS or 1.6 105PS, and the 1.6 is quite nippy actually, enough for what i need anyway. Was talking to SEAT dealer who seemed to know his stuff. 1.6 petrol is around the 11k to 11.2k, optional extras (plenty of them). I want the 1.6 petrol with upgrade to 17" alloys (extra £137), USB input (extra £93) and possibly climate control. Brings it to around the £11.5 mark, still a pretty good deal when comparing to other manufacturers of similar size/tech cars.

the 17's will pay for themselves cause the tires cost less at 17 inch than 16. Odd I know.

28-12-2008, 22:11
Really?, that is odd!. Yeah, i think the 17" alloys really set the Ibiza off, looks much sportier. The daft thing is i quite like the Citrus colour (which, on paper, just isn't a very manly colour !). But still may go for the white or red basic colour and get climate control for what i saved in not getting a metallic colour !.
Saw a white one yesterday with 17" inch alloys - awesome !!

remapped 1.6 would be a waste of time, and NA tuning could see about 140hp but it would be costly. Right now diesel is the best engine if you want to mod and cannot wait for the more powerful options!

Correct but with remap around 130.
The inside is actually very nice I think - done a good job.
Once the FR diesel is announced I'll be down to the dealer.
andy15star
29-12-2008, 19:20
Hi, it's not really a matter of waiting, i can wait for the more powerful ones, but my budget is £12000 and couldn't afford a new FR one. Also, i have to consider economical engines, i do too many miles per day to and from work and my Leon Cupra is costing me £200 a month in fuel alone. Was hoping to knock £50 or so a month off that with the new Ibiza which does approx 43mpg against 29mpg in my CUpra. My Cupra is also starting to cost me as it's 7 years old.
It's great to have a bit of oomph in a car, but it's not essential to me these days, economy, decent sporty looks and reliability are more important to me at the mo, that's why i always buy Seat !, 0-62 in 10.5 seconds is enough for me to be honest.
Best Regards,
Andy

Good God man!!! Acceleration is everything - is King, the dogs whatsits etc etc.!!!!!! The fact they are reliable too is a bonus!!::D Don't get old before your time, LOL!!:p
andy15star
31-12-2008, 07:28
lol, yeah i know!, well i've got the chance of the 1.6 petrol sport, climate control (worth £245), black magic metallic (worth £352) and upgraded 17" alloys (£137), which should come to £11,800 new. But the local SEAT garage have a 3 month old one (new shape Ibiza, 58 plate) with 4k on the clock going for £9900, a good £1,900 off new price. Going to test drive it today, hopefully i'll like it !
With my Cupra now being written off i'm without a car and cannot wait till the FR/Cupra Ibiza's come out, not with the mileage i do to and from work. Busses are out the question !
Regards,
Andy
Think they'll come out in 3 types;
The 1.9TDI 100bhp Sport, a 19.TDI 130bhp FR and a 1.9TDI 160bhp Cupra. Probably looking around £15k or £16k for the latter.
Mmmm.. I wouldn't mind a new Cupra, myself.

See lots of saloons here. Toyota Corolla saloon is one of the best sellin cars in Ireland. Old cordoba done well here aswel. Its still even been sold as its one of the cheapest cars on the market to tax here and still fairly big. Focus saloon is also a fairly regular site here as is the Octavia. Octavia is the forth best selling family car here

I am not sure about the salon:confused: The Mk5 looks a lot different to the Mk4 i saw loads of 5 doors in Menorca last year whilst on hols. Its certainly grown on me in 3 door form and looks really good in white :) I think it just needs to butch up the cheesy grinning front end with the FR and Cupra though:D

I seem to recall similar comments being made about the Mk 4, by owners of earlier models, when it was introduced. I think all the Ibizas remain pretty fresh looking and the Mk 4 has aged very well. I am still not convinced about the Mk 5, mainly because it is a bit less adventurous looking than I was expecting, but perhaps I will warm to it in time. I can't afford a new car anyway, so I will have to stick with my Mk 4 for a few more years. Could be worse.

Well took it out on monday for a quick blast and yea its nice to drive. I think it must be a different gear box as it abit more stiff/heavey. Pulls very well in second and get up to 60 in no time. When we get the new tdi and I think it will sell very well. Noise is the only thing I think people will say about it. I am sure the ecomotive will be just as nice to drive and abit more quiet also.
Hi people, new to the forum so be gentle with me.
Has anyone actually got one of these new 1.9TDIs yet as I'm torn between getting one or waiting for an FR version? Any feedback on performance etc would be good

If you're at work you shouldn't be looking at the internet ;)

haha never miss a trick :P
Interestingly I found a leaked release list from a Google search for the new FR
The dates for the Leon facelift (Apr) and Ibiza Cupra lauch (Sep) look about right but it seems the Ibiza FR has been shelved as it should have been out in Feb.
