Well its short shift heaven for you new revo drivers

3 bar graph below...

I've marked off some interesting points...

to get the best power shortshift at 5750 rpm keeping above 4500 rpm when the next gear comes in......

that way you will always have more power tha your old 180bhp jobbie,

This graph perfectly matches my on road experience.....

Notice that revo gives you 180bhp by 4200 rpm

Well I've been out driving and I can confirm the following gear change revs needed to keep in the 'Revo Zone'..:)

take 1st to 6000 rpm because the lower gears are fairly widely spaced.
2nd gear change at 5800 rpm which drops you into 3rd at 4700rpm
hold third to 5700 rpm which drops you into fourth at 4600rpm
you can hold fourth till 5700 rpm which drops you into fifth at 4800 rpm
Fifth you can change at 5500 rpm because the gears are closer together and you will only drop to just below 5000.

Summary..to stay in the 'Revo Zone' change gear at the following rpm's
1st....6000 rpm
2nd...5800 rpm
3rd....5700 rpm
4th....5700 rpm
5th....5500 rpm

I don't have a brochure with final drive ratio's but if someone has them I should be able to draw a graph from them...

Mr. S - am I right in saying that like me you have an older style Leon Cupra?

Just wondered how the original wheel/tyre size handles the extra power and torque you get from Revo? Is it more of a problem in the wet?

I do indeed have the older style Leon Cupra its a Jan 2001 registered Jobbie.

I was a bit concerned before the Revo that I would have to beef up the suspension and brakes but to be honest the suspension is coping fine..the brakes haven't let me down either although my front wheels are a lot blacker than normal..:)

I did put two brand spanking tyres on the front in readiness of the Revo...(Continental Sport Contact 205 55 16's on original wheels)

In the wet you do have to be gentle with the throttle but it is far from dangerous or unruly.

In the dry you just go faster without any torque steer or grip issues to worry about really.
You WILL be concentrating on your driving with revo anyway..;)

It can chirp the front wheels in the dry in first gear now though.

I have been pleasantly surprised by how little the extra power upset the chassis.

I just had the software set for optimax..no sps...£499 + vat

I've had my Cupra for 10 months now and I know it's limitations and when not to push it.

I suppose £586 is alot cheaper than buying a new car.
Does it make a huge difference in 6th? I've always thought that gear a bit disappointing on the m/way having to drop down to 5th to really crack on......

Funny you should say that...
this weekend I was driving on an Mway and I actually almost went to shift into a non existent 7th gear it was pulling so well in 6th.
You can almost just leave it in sixth now.

It has needed a period of learning to reach this stage after initially being a bit dissapointed now I have had 2 tanks of Optimax through my car it definately feels very strong now..:D

I don't know if I'd do it with a 10month old car as you are still well within your warranty period wheras my warranty expires on Jan 1st coming..although you shouldn't have any probs with the engine as they are tuned to produce a lot more than 210bhp and the R has 210bhp std anyway and that gets 3 yr warranty.
I've disclosed to my insurance but with current detection techniques you wouldn't strictly have to.

Thanks for the info!
As you say the warranty could be an issue even though it is supposedly undetectable by Seat - hey, some guy at Seat UK is probably reading this post now. What can you do?

Out of interest how much more did your insurance company charge?

Well there was a bonus...
I was originally paying £1100 through my company to have it insured as a company vehicle..

As things were that insurer wouldn't cover the mod so I had to change..

I went with Greenlight and got the mod covered and business use for £685 fully comp..three named drivers clean licences parked off street but not in garage .
If you don't have business use it would be about £150 cheaper.
