of 6x9's, what ones would u get? As i've just picked up my ibiza cupra yesterday and there is no bass what so ever (not that the 6x9's will give me much!)
But the 6x9's would be some improvemnet wouldnt they? would prefer to go the sub/amp route but it aint worth the hassle with the standard headunit/dash thing.
I'm only interested in a good sounding system, not interested in rattling the neighbours windows - but would like some amount of bass... please... :D
6x9s will give you more bass than the standard setup, however, you will always be dissapointed by their sound unless you get a sub as well.
And also since any decent 6x9s are rated at 200W + you will still need an amp installed to run them, don't think the headunit would be pushing out enough power on the rear channels to drive a nice 6x9 with any power.

First off don't get 6x9s...
Get a set of good components in the front and then soundproof the doors... You'll get more bass and a better sound...
Then get a sub. It really does make a massive difference.
The standard HU with a set of JL components, JL 12" Sub, and a Rockford amp sounded so far different from the standard kit you wouldn't think the HU was the same...
Also I would never advise 6x9's with a sub. The 6'9's on the shelf will be effected by the sub and will never sound right ;)

aye i agree about the sub and 6x9's thing, i'd rather not get 6x9's but the fact that i cant put my own headunit in seems a bit limiting - and i thought a amp running off the standard headunit doesnt sound to good? or could it? thought i read about some sort of interference?
Is there anyone that would do this for me? a company that know their way around a cupra in the south? i'd be willing to do it right as long as it was done right!
I had a set of infinity 652i's in my 206 up at the front and they were fantastic! had a sub/amp ready to go in but i crashed before it was installed :(

Agree absolutely. Components are the way to go. Before I got my Kicker Reference 6.5 inchers installed the guy who I have been using to install for many years demo'd them in his unfinished demo rig.
This was an Astra Van and all it had in it at that stage were the kickers running off the standard Vau***ll head unit. I could not beleive how good it sounded. Loads of bass compared to what I would have expected and a very good sound as well.
Componenets do deliver very good base and high end sound so i'd recommend them too.
ICE MAN i have a question,.. what additions to the speakers would you suggest to a Leon to give it a little more mid range punch? i find that with my Sony head unit and the standard components i get great bass and treble which is great for dance but not so good for rock.
What would you recommend?

If you do not want to fill the boot like we didn't on our mini we had some DLS 7x10's put in the rear of our mini( they have 40oz Magnets from the 10" subs). They say they fit in the same space as 6x9's but they had to make a MDF template and cut a bit of metal away. Bit of sound deadning aswell. 5" components up front also DLS.
This is run from a Alpine 7893 headunit and sounds bloody fantastic:D
I would imagine you could get them cheaper now £200 for the 7x10's and £150 for the DLS components.

I was thinking of adding an amp as im sure I am not using the speakers to there full potential. Any suggestions on what amp?

Robpuguk... I'm in the South ( Maidenhead ) and I like to think I know my way around Seats by now...
Once I have my install finished ( as if... The boot will get covered and then I'll start all over again as usual... hahah ) I'll be able to start on another car. Could do yours for you if you like ;)
Darren... Either pop over to the icecavern forums ( Come on I need more members... lol ) or drop me a mail at pete@icecavern.co.uk with the kit you've got and what you want sound wise, along with a budget and I'll have a think... ;)
LDor... mmmm Rock... Thinking... If you want lots of mid bass then ( generally ) the american makes have plenty ( JL, Rockford, Kicker ) the best way is to find your nearest big ICE store and pop in with your fave CD's for a listen to a few. Most shops worth their salts have a demo setup with various makes in... ( Or to get a rough idea if you can go into halfords when it's quiet they might help out... Just don't tell them you won't be buying from them ;) )

Aha.
Yes, Pete does know his way round an Ibiza (he tore mine apart enought times) :D
Oh yeah, std HU works with fine with a line level / RCA converter..which I also have! :D :D
Pete...he could soo easily put all the bits from my old ibiza, into his and have a pukka sounding system without costing him much at all!
;)
What d'ya reckon??

Lee stop hijacking threads.... :p
All I can say is you're a fool if you do sell... You know my feelings on the matter

Get a sub! :D
...wiring isn't that much hassle as long as you choose an amp that accepts speaker level inputs - i.e. Rockford Fosgate 500x :)
