Being a new kid on the block, and just having driven my brand new Cupra R away from my local dealer, can I have a straight answer on the fuel question? The handbook recommends 98 grade unleaded, but that 95 can be used with a loss in performance. Will repeated use of 95 lead to any long-term damage, or is it just a loss of performance?

Phew someone older than me on here at last...:)
No probs running 95 Rob just a loss of performance...
The ecu has anti knock adjustability 'on the fly' for poorer fuels.
Enjoy your car...
dare we ask what you have driven before?
Its ok I'm sat in a comfy chair..:)
You may begin...:p
I was begining to think that I was the grandaddy of this forum! Thanks for taking over that position, Robert :)
Mark's dead right - I was told by my local dealership that there was no problem running an R on 95ron, just a slight loss in performance. The ECU will cope with any fuel 'variation' (95/98).

Thanks, Emm. Sounds common-sensical to me. In a quick 1000 miles in week1,I can't detect any difference between 95 and 98. 32 mpg is good for starters, but I guess that this will deteriorate with use!
Rob
stick optimax for 3 tank fulls
then go back to 95
:p
