View Full Version : Power Loss
I switch between 98 Ron and stock quite often. Mainly change to stock all week and 98 ron on weekends. When i do change back to stock obviously there is power loss but it actually doesn't seem to pull as much as it did when it was totally standard without revo.
Do i have to wait for the ECU to relearn or should i not be switching too often?

Also....
Is the "stock" program the original map (VAG) or a Revo interpretation of a stock program?
If the revo stock is different to "stock VAG" stock map, how is it different?
hmmm... Why not just use 98 all the time? :hammer:

I don't think switching so often is a good idea as the ECU does have to learn.
By the time the ECU is synchronised to your fuel and driving you are asking it to relearn again.
I presume you do the swapping because you do your business miles on 95 ron fuel and treat yourself to Optimax for hooning around at weekends.
I was filling up with SUL ron 97 and had the Revo set for Optimax.
I have the Optimax prog without switches and it took me one and a half tanks of Optimax or about 400 miles before the car felt as strong as I thought it should.

i think by this he means that he switches between 98ron "performance" mode and 98 ron stock mode i do the same but ive never found the car to be any slower than it originally was. Sometimes hyowever i do find that i get a bad "flash" when i switch to performance and i have to do it again to get performace to run smoothly?
anyone know how many times you can switch the engine management before it locks out?

Coops, don't you mean when when you drive my car, as you are too chichen sh1t to Revo yours.
its foxtrots car that ive done this is in (hes my brother) but i havent noticed any ill effects. In fact im really tempted by the fact that you can switch it.

so you admit mine is faster then.
I drove a 172 Cup this morning and it would struggle to keep up with yours in a straight line, and then Cupra R is definatley faster and better balanced in the corners. The clutch on the Cup is horrid.
ure not thinking of selling the beast already are you?
told you you should have got yellow

This shouldn't be the case as you aren't flashing the ECU when you plug in an SPS you are just switching the software. What you might be experiencing is adaptation!

nobody would want to buy it. Its not like yours that looks like its just out of the showroom, and gets waxed every weekend. If you stop cleaning it so much you won't notice all the very tiny little marks and you won't get so upset.[smile]:D
