The unit you asked about is very similar to the MEX - 5DI which has the TFT screen, MP3, F R & Sub out, remote control. The 1000TF now claims 4 volt pre - outs, 4 x 52 Watts output and couple more features as opposed to the 5DI which was a component unit. The 5DI's we've fitted in the past we're very good indeed tho!
What price have you had for the 1000TF so far?

the best price so far has been 369 + 10 for delivery.
anyone know cheaper?
£369 is a very good price. MCS are usually the cheapest and they're doing it for £373.
Its a nice unit, although I had a play with it and wasn't that impressed. The MEX5DI allows your to put your own graphics/animations on screen via Memorystick, the 1000TF doesn't let you add your own so you are stuck with the standard graphics.

was it just the graphics feature that let the unit down for you?
what are the security features of this unit and how is the sound quality of it?

Unfortunatley you just get given a plate that slide over the front facia to make it look like a blank basically, bit naff but you will have a code security feature via the hand held remote so anyone who steals the set will most likely not have your remote so stereo no workie!
Sound quality is pretty good, you've got the EQ7 to play about with and theres some good initial set up options to fine tune your set up. Some other other CD Tuner sets around the RRP of the Sony CDX - M1000TF (£640) is maybe an Alpine CDA - 9815RB (£499 RRP), stonking sound quality,MP3, Bass engine and time alignment etc...Kenwood KDC - PSW9524 (RRP £565),MP3, removable auto mask, System Q - Ex and other goodies. The list drags on!
BTW, Thats a very good price you have found!
Yeah, I was really hoping to be able to add your own piccies but i guess they have to save some features for the top model.
I actually prefer the grey surround of the 1000TF to the silver finish of the 5DI, looks very classy and should match Seat dashes a treat:)
Sound quality will be excellent as it gives you the DSO and EQ7 (7 band equaliser) and variable high pass filters for the channels and low pass filter for the sub.
Not being able to remove the faceplate is a bit disappointing however it wouldn't put me off as people will break in just to steal the unit anyway...I've got quite a collection of faceplates from units i've had stolen.
