Hello all,

Not sure if I posted this in the right place, but get's plenty of views so thought it's got to be worth a shout.

I know this has probably been discussed before, but was enquiring if ESP is a worthwhile option on an import. It cost €325.

From what I've read about it, it looks very good, but my main concern is if it takes away some of the 'fun' of driving. Things like understeering and braking in corners are assisted, but most people know it's not a good idea to brake in corners anyway (brake before and power through is the way to go!).

Day to day driving is fine, but I suppose the best example would be damp conditions and roundabouts. You're on the roundabout increasing power and you get understeer, but I assume ESP will stop this from happening. But does it stop it to the extreme that you're losing potential speed around the roundabout?

Just want some opinions from people who have ESP on their car or know a thing or two about it.

So people, post away!

Cheers,

Chris.

Discussed fairly recently here (http://www.seatcars.net/forums/showthread.php?threadid=1729). It's probably best you chack that thread out since it's got a lot of info in there already.

Cheers FastShow, I knew it would've been covered somewhere else, but must confess to overlooking the Leon forum.

Will browse in there from now on.

Seems the general feeling is to get it, which I thought would be best. If I was to visit race tracks on a regular occurance, wouldn't have gone for it as would've been good to push it to the limits, but with the limits on the roads and police around every corner, seems a safe bet.

You can turn it off anyway, so track days not a problem:D

Hi,

I didn't think you could turn ESP off?

I know you can turn TCS off, but didn't know about ESP. How is it done?

Can anyone else confirm?

Cheers,

Chris.

My Leon has a button by the fuel filler button.

Owners manual states:

"The TCS or ESP connect automatically when the engine is switched on. If neccssary, they may be switched off briefly by pressing corresponding switch"

That switch is the TCS button on centre console.

The TCS or ESP switch is located by the fuel door switch on center console.
The ESP is tits!! I've had the Toledo for about a month and it has already save my ass once.

Possibly "THE tits" as opposed to just "tits"? :)

Sorry, forgot to mention it was on an Ibiza rather than a Leon.

Does it still work on the TCS button then?

Cheers,

Chris.

On the Beeza it is up on the center console.

I read some where (not sure where) in the forums someone complaining about having quicker 0-100 or 0-60 with TCS/ESP off. I guess the TCS can slow you down a bit but as someone else said in that forum you really won't use it 99% of the time, but that 1% can really save your ass.
I am also sure tell eventually get around to having TCS/ESP with a normal and sport seting, something like the automatic trannies on some Mercs.

Its also worth knowing that holland (the place its cheapest to buy seats from) Can no longer fit esp to rhd ibiza'a anyway.

I know this for sure as my esp got cancelled off my import ibiza due to rhd.

I have a fax from the dealer in holland to confirm this.
