Well I finally managed to find a sexy Toledo V5 170 in Black Magic, with full beige leather. I test drove the car yesterday.
What a fantastic drive, I'd driven the old 150 V5 last year and thought that was good, but the difference I have found in the 170 is amazing.
I had been leaning towards a VW Bora 4motion, or even an S60 but have now decided to buy the Toledo V5. It's just such a perfect package for me and I think quite cheap to maintain considering all the amount of kit you get.
Having driven Japanese V6's and currently own a gorgeous silver Mazda Xedos 6 - 2.0i V6 SE. I was after a car that was as good to drive and has loads of standard kit. The V5 170 engine is far more superior than the mazda. The build & kit levels are excellent.
The grin factor I had on my face yesterday was huge, I loved driving the V5 170, I really put it through it's paces and the car just kept pleasing me. The only thing I found was at high speeds the ride became slightly floaty, but I sure this can be put right will alittle tinkering!!
The problem I'm faced with now, is I love the Black Magic colour and am not sure if it's a colour I will regret to buy, because it shows all the dirt & scratches.
I would really like your advice & reassurance that it's a good colour to go for and if there are any Black Magic owners out there tell me what you think.
The other colour that I may choose is the new gold colour -but I haven't seen one in the flesh and the SEAT dealer said that the gold colour is harder to shift!
Please help me guys, I'm lusting over this black magic and don't know what to do!!

I'd go along with that.
Worse when it's windy.

Go For It!!
Okay, so Black Magic does show the dirt a little bit more quickly, but all the cars I have ever owned looked dirty after a couple of days, whatever the colour.
Dust in this hot weather we are having at the moment will cover a car within a day and make any paintwork dull.
Black shines up so well, it's worth it!

I second that. It seems that the toledo really moves all around when hit with a good dose of X-wind.
black all they way m8 v5's look class in black (or blue ok im biased) i wouldnt go for the gold though it does look a bit of an old mans car my local seat dealer have one in and have had it for the last year and cant shift it, i looked at it but i dont think it suits the v5 imho sorry if i offend any gold v5 owners out there
chris
ps stick a set of 20's and coilovers on and i can guarantee the ride will not be floaty tee hee
Go for the black (unbiased of course):D
Get the dealer to get DiamondBrite Scotchguard on paintwork and interior. Costs about £250 but they should do it for free.
It comes with a 6 year warranty and is the muts dingly danglies.
If you need any further info, let me know :)

Thanks guys for all your posts(so far)really appreciate your input.
Stubill & prc, How do you cope when it does get really windy??..have you done any mods on your car to cure this problem? Should I be worried about this??
Xcelcia, that sounds excellent, but I'm always spectic about dealers doing anything for free! Could you please give me more info on this?
Thanks.
Midcuk, I thought as much with the gold colour, viewed a gold V5 on the seat website, and wasn't keen!! I thought it might look better
in the flesh but I know that I'd be always lusting after the Black Magic. Not sure if I can afford the 20's. Tell me more about the coilovers please?
Guys, have you done any mods to your V5's since having them?
Thanks again for all your help, I'm definitely going for the Black Magic now!!

Drive a bit slower :D
Nothing to worry about, it's just a characteristic of the Toledo. My old 150 V5 was exactly the same.

I changed shocks and am waiting for some eibach springs. I think the springs will help a bit more than the shocks alone.

Prc,
What type of shocks did you choose?
One of the first mods I was going to change on the V5 was the tyres. I currently have a set of Eagle F1's on my car and they are superb.
So I'm hoping to get similar if the same results when I put these on the V5.
I do like the softer ride setup of the V5. Do you think if I start tinkering with the shocks & springs I will loose some of the softness?
How does yours feel since changing the shocks?
