Just thought i'd share this with others who might be thinking of getting these.
I am NOT having them put on my car, cos me tuner has taken it off their demo after some technical problems.
One of the pistons has seized on it...and for safety reasons (risking my life)..they felt it was best if I didn't have them.
They've had it on the car a little over 2 months.
So....it's back to the drawing board....and the Cupra R Brembo set up may be the alternative!

Was this off their Golf IV?
Bill
Lee why don't you just get Ap's that are tried and tested
Why exactly would you want 6 pots anyway for the road?
You haven't seen Lee's car have you!!!
Rich :)
errrrr yes........... both me and john have...............whats that mean
I have seen Lee's car many times yes, and many other Ibiza's more powerful, and still fail to see the need for 6 pots on a road car?
To bad it's a beeza,
I've been checking round and plan to upgrade my toledo with the 312mm discs from an A8 (just need the caliper holder from an Audi TT + discs for upgrade). Unfortunately it's a 5 hole format not 4 hole for the beeza. Still looking on how to upgrade the rear to the 256mm vented rotors from the leon cupra4 or just go to the solid 245mm from an A4.
I think the bigger discs (maybe slotted and/or drilled) + better pads and stainless braided lines should be adequate for most.

Bill - Yes!
GTEvo - The Tarox would have been half the cost of a new set of AP's. But you're right.....might go for them....but i'm beginning to like me current brake setup...cos its working rather well!!
John B - Weren't really for the road...even though thats where i spend most of my time. Std calipers aren't THAT good on a track...and thought i could do with a bit more squeezing power from the calipers. Besides...the were MASSIVE and look wicked!
But not anymore.....
Its all very true........for the road, it was a bit pointless.
Got the PSS9's now....just thought i'd might aswell add the brakes and finish the modding once and for all.
That might be about it now anyway....saving up for an M3/M5!!!

My guess is now you have the PSS9's fitted you will find the on the limit braking a whole lot better than before. (limits as found around Castle Combe for example)
Mine was transformed with the improved body roll control and pitch reduction. It still rolls to much IMHO but it was a giant leap forward in the handling dept. Better handling = Better braking because the ABS did not have to cut in early due to the unloading of the various wheels over undulations.
As for stopping the Tarox disks are Ok as are the Pagid pads I use, BUT the ABS still cuts in too early for my liking....
Need to find an off switch for it. :)

Rich,
How can you say my car is OTT!! :D
Its nowhere near...when you compare it against GTEvo's and others. Thats why they thought nothing of it, cos to them, my car is really quite standard!! :)
See ya

Absolutely - spot on John - you are never going to get anywhere near enough heat in the brakes on the road or grip from the tires to need them - a good 4 pot is much more than road tires can stand at the tire size / weight of car / speed we are talking about - I have willwood 4 pots (the kit is 'only' £700) and can easily lock my front wheels - goodyear eagle F1's - at 100mph with a bit too much application - how much more do you need ??????

To turn the ABS off, could you simply take the fuse out or put a switch and inline fuse in instead of the blade fuse ????

RobT and JohnB,
I've got the Tarox/Greenstuff combo to fade on the road, but it was under pretty extreme and prolonged abuse coming down a Welsh mountain. Under typical use its good enough.
Having greater pad area from 6 pots aids heat dissipation, so in theory it would reduce likelihood of fade.
Although changing from Greenstuff to Pagid sounds like the cheapest solution if as Bill reckons his set up stands up well to the extremes of track use.
APs - yes please. But I'd rather stick £1400 for APs and £1000 for PSS9s towards an Impreza Sti or Evo5/6.
Spent too much already on the Ibiza. Blitz will be the last mod (I hope ;) )
Dave what have you spent on yours so far?

Do the 6 pots have a greater pad area though ? They have a more even pad pressure but is it actually a larger area ? I run EBC redstuff pads for the track and they are v.good but when cold, the response is less good and they can snatch. Pads have an operating range at which they work - road pads need to work from cold to be absolutely safe but then run out of bite as they heat up too much (eg greenstuff on steep mountain roads !). Redstuff have a higher operating temp but the lower temp is correspondingly raised. I would not recommend the redstuff pads for everyday use on the road for a car of ibiza's weight - check this before going for eg Pagids.
Cheers

I think so but I might be wrong.

Yeah, wouldn't run redstuff on the road. I think Pagid is supposed to be a good allrounder though. Eh Bill?

Yep!
Pagid FR5051's Fast Road pads work a treat from cold and have never faded on me. I won't be outbraked by anyone in a Saloon car with these pads.
They work for me :)

The Tarox 6 Pot caliper most certainly has a greater pad contact area than my current std set up. The pads used are bloody huged!
Interesting views from everyone really....but since they don't work properly...i'm not gonna change them now. Can't be bothered...and like Paul B...spent wayyy too much already!!
Cheers

Yes, I changed a set of AP 4pots over to a set of AP6 pots on a M3or 5 and the pad was bigger than the 4pot pad.
i have spent about 13000 on the car so far.....well when i say spent i mean blagged....

There's a Herts cruise this weekend....you interested???
