View Full Version : APR isnt REVO
rite ive got a dilema, i live in manchester and want a chip for my leon cup r, can any one tell which is best and who fits them locally,
apr =250 bhp =£449 +vat
dont no bout revo as i thought they were the same company what bhp figures are you guys running safely on the revo software.
i *think* you can get appx 260-270bhp on the Leon R with the REVO. Correct me somone if im wrong. Your local APR agents is Awesome GTi, and Dubsport would be nearest for REVO (approved revo dealer). Why not try the 5 hour free REVO software and see what ya think?
yeah just got in touch by doing some digging,
apr =250bhp £449+vat detectable to the dealer.
revo= 265bhp £499+vat non detectable
sps1 switch for stock or performance non detectable
sps2 same as 1 with immobaliser DETECTABLE
sps3 same as 1 and 2 with boost settings and timing DETECTABLE
think ill go revo seems the better package to me for just the chip
how is which SPS unit you choose detectable?

can i mention this in your forum 'revo'..?
... APR - detectable only if the dealer drives it (if you dont go for the cruise control switch)
isnt the cruise control a VAG part too? so it shouldnt raise any warrenty issues?
the cruise control stalk is not a SEAT accessory AFAIK so it's something that may p*ss them off

ahhh ok- i had it in my mind that a VAG/SEAT part was used (stalk) to switch programs for APR.
just cos it's a VAG part doesn't mean that it is 'allowed' to fit your car.
approved new parts / accessories are OK, as are optional extra's but parts from other models?
it's be (extreme example) saying that you fitted the turbo off a W10 tdi, just cos it's a VAG part
it may work, but just don't expect as much back up as normal ;)

Not sure why you think the SPS 2 and 3 is detectable? The software in the car is the same regardless of the switch, and they are plug in units that you only have in the OBDII port as and when you want to change/alter settings!

eh ? (again) nothing ever makes sense
APR is now 265bhp & 275lb/ft and REVO is about the same unless you up the ante with SPS3 to 280+bhp & 280+lb/ft
Jabba is the only detectable one that come close to the same outputs, if not actually higher at about 270bhp & 280 lb/ft - they are also almost half the cost of the APR & REVO options.
Dont forget whilst REVO is £499+VAT + SPS option between £149+VAT - £249+VAT, the APR requires the flip switch software (£99+VAT) and cruise control (£150+VAT), with further options of security lock out for the programs and also their new imobiliser software (all activated through the cruise control)
So they both come in from about £800+ for a switchable option, and are undetectable at the moment. Jabba, is the only detectable tuning of the 3 companies.
Lets keep it factual.
the revo guy at dub sport told me, that sps2 and sps3 are both detectable because the immobaliser kicks in and once used it is detectable, so who reccomends what
APR
OR
REVO

Except that you have to (at the moment) still remove the ECU, remove a Quality Inspected Chip, solder a new one on as well as that person can. That's pretty detectable isn't it Leo.
Well...(starts storm in a tea cup ;))... all are ultimately detectable - naturally the FLASH/EEPROM will have different contents with APR and Revo. IMO you need to declare it to your insurer anyway, and if there's a warranty claim for turbo or engine (wasn't there a story about a chipped TT that popped a conrod through the block and a dealer wanting to check if it was chipped?), a dealer might be suspicious and check if all is not stock, in depth.
Personally - I believe if you chip, you run a warranty risk...end of story.
P
PS: When my car was in for its 20thou service - no comments at all about it being chipped. I did leave it with stock boost and removed the boost controller (30 sec job ;))

I thought DPP was released and available by APR now, how else would they have done 3 of them in USA - oh you mean available in the UK, a mere technicality mate - it is iminent (next week i believe) ;)

AHA, that is still iminent isnt it, i am begining to wonder if it ever will as i have been told 3-4 weeks for almost 3 months now, and that'll be another month :(
If we could actually have a response back from JeremyAPR or another of the guys it would be hewlpful for us and them, they have had a lot of potential customers hanging about waiting for a long time now.

It's annoying that they seem to be completely ignoring the UK. I PM'd awesome after we learned that the APR DPP would be available in the US from the weekend (at a show) and the following week at dealers - to see if APR had given them a release date yet. "Not heard anything" was the reply.
If APR's new DPP delivery software (the bit that gets the DPP software into the car) is all Active X/web based and "superior to other offerings on the market" as they claim, surely all that the UK APR dealers have to do is to download the software and agree a price to flog it at?

Yeah they“ve been postponing the release of the DPP, but at least is on their website now. And according to them they got 280hp on the R, but i belive as in Revo that“s the maximum output power. The Only country who is doing it is Mexico as of now, and only to the Leon Cupra R.
